No. Xbox and PC players cannot play together in Dying Light cross-play sessions. Techland’s current franchise guidance says full cross-play between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox is not supported. The answer applies to the original Dying Light, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, and Dying Light: The Beast; the exceptions are limited to specific pairings such as Xbox-to-Xbox-generation play and PC storefront play.
What works—and what does not
“Cross-platform” can mean different things. For Dying Light, the key distinction is whether the players are using different platform families or different versions within the same family.

How the answer varies by game
Dying Light (2015)
Techland Support says general cross-platform gameplay is not possible in the original game. Its PC cross-play announcement describes compatibility across supported PC environments, not between PC and Xbox. Read the PC cross-play announcement; see the original-game support FAQ.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human (2022)
Techland’s FAQ says cross-platform co-op between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox is unavailable. Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S can play together across generations, while Steam and Epic users can play together on PC. See Techland’s FAQ.

Does cross-generation play mean Xbox can play with PC?
No. Cross-generation play connects two generations of the same console family—for example, Xbox One with Xbox Series X|S in Dying Light 2. Cross-play between Xbox and PC would connect different platform families, and Techland says that is not supported.

Can you transfer a save between Xbox and PC?
No. Techland’s Dying Light 2 support FAQ says cross-platform save transfer between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox is not possible. Being able to play across PC storefronts does not imply that a save can move between PC and console. See the Dying Light 2 FAQ.

No release date or confirmed plan for Xbox–PC cross-play is established in the cited guidance. In its Dying Light 2 FAQ, modified October 18, 2023, Techland quoted Franchise Director Tymon Smektała: “It is a complex technical challenge, and we will not say anything concrete about cross-platform plans until we are sure that we can deliver them.” That describes the lack of a concrete plan at the time; it is not a promise that cross-play will arrive. Techland’s current franchise guidance still says full PC–console cross-play is unsupported. Read Techland’s FAQ.
