The safest way to mod TCG Card Shop Simulator on a standard PC installation is to use Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman with the Mono build of BepInEx 5. Install BepInEx, launch the game once by itself, then add mods and their dependencies through the manager. Do not install BepInEx 6 unless a specific mod explicitly requires the IL2CPP loader; the current standard setup for this game uses BepInEx 5.
What you need before installing mods
- A legitimate installation of TCG Card Shop Simulator.
- The correct game branch and mod version. Thunderstore currently separates listings for the 0.62 Branch and 0.66 Branch, while some newer Nexus mods require version 0.70.3 or later.
- BepInEx 5.4.20 or newer for Mono for the standard PC loader path. The distinction between BepInEx 5/Mono and BepInEx 6/IL2CPP is documented on the Configuration Manager page.
Before downloading anything, check the mod’s requirements and supported game version. A mod made for a different branch may fail even when BepInEx itself is installed correctly.
Recommended method: install mods with a mod manager
For most players, Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman is the least error-prone option because it installs dependencies and keeps the profile separate from the game’s base files.
- Install Thunderstore Mod Manager or r2modman.
- Open the manager and select TCG Card Shop Simulator.
- Create or select a profile for the game version you are using.
- Open the BepInEx package page and choose Install with Mod Manager. The standard package is the Mono BepInEx pack listed for this game.
- Install your chosen mod and every dependency shown on its page.
- Launch the game using the manager’s Modded or equivalent launch button, not the ordinary desktop or Steam shortcut.
The Thunderstore database provides categories such as Tools, QOL, Furniture, Items, NPCs, Cards, Expansions, Shop and Themes. Use the Show deprecated option carefully, and check whether a listing belongs to the 0.62 or 0.66 branch before installing it. First launch: run BepInEx by itself
The Thunderstore instructions explicitly say to run BepInEx alone once before installing. This first launch creates the loader’s folders and confirms that the game can start with BepInEx.
- Install only BepInEx first.
- Launch the game through the mod manager.
- Wait until the game finishes loading and then close it.
- Install additional mods and dependencies afterward.
On a successful desktop installation, a BepInEx console appears while the game starts. If it does not appear, do not continue adding mods until the loader problem is fixed.
Manual BepInEx installation on Windows
Manual installation is useful when a manager does not support a particular release or when a mod author provides a custom package. The important rule is to copy the extracted BepInEx contents into the folder containing the game’s executable.

- On the BepInEx package page, select Manual Download.
- Extract the archive into a temporary folder. Do not extract it directly into the game directory.
- Open the game’s local-files directory. For a Steam installation, this is normally
SteamsteamappscommonTCG Card Shop Simulator. - Move the extracted BepInEx contents into that directory, alongside the game executable.
- Launch the game once and wait for it to finish loading.
- Confirm that the BepInEx console appears, then close the game.
After the first launch, install plugins under BepInExplugins. Keep each plugin in its own uniquely named folder. If an archive contains a root-level Plugins folder, go one directory deeper and place the contained plugin folder inside BepInExplugins; do not leave the DLL buried inside an extra archive directory.

Configuration Manager is an optional utility for mods that expose settings through an in-game panel. Install the build that matches your loader:
- BepInEx 5 build: BepInEx 5.4.20 or newer, Mono only.
- BepInEx 6 build: nightly build 664 or newer, IL2CPP only.
For the standard TCG Card Shop Simulator installation, use the BepInEx 5/Mono path. Installing the BepInEx 6 build is not a normal update step; it is the wrong loader family for this setup.

- Press F1 to open the default Configuration Manager screen.

Installing mods from Nexus Mods
Nexus mods may use a different package structure from Thunderstore packages. Read the mod’s requirements and installation notes rather than copying every file somewhere inside the BepInEx directory.
For example, Pokémon TCG Card Shop Simulator v3.3 supports game version v0.70.3 and later. Its page says it does not replace the vanilla cards or items; it adds a separate Pokémon-themed shop. The current page does not support the 0.62 or 0.66 branches.

The Pokémon overhaul requires Enhanced Prefab Loader, EPL API, Holographic Overhaul, Phone – Overhaul and Pre-configured BepInEx with Configuration Manager. Collection Tracker is also required for promo cards, and TextureReplacer is required for shop textures. Enhanced Binder, EPL Demand, Grading Overhaul and RTCGO Custom TV are listed as recommended dependencies.
Version 3.3 also requires the Deckbox, Manga and Playmats licenses to be unlocked before those items appear on playtables. Its expansion downloads are split by generation, and the release includes playtable cards and updates for the newest Enhanced Prefab Loader.

TCG Card Shop SimulatorBepInExconfigClose the game before editing that configuration file. In the game, press Insert to open or close the menu. To add a delivery item, press the + button, choose the item from the dropdown, then press F5 to spawn it.
Version 1.8.3 prevents the menu from opening while you are already in another UI or interaction. Earlier releases also had a specific problem with opening it while manning the cash register, which could freeze camera movement. If Insert does nothing, leave the register and close any active interface before trying again.

The modding instructions for Steam Deck use the game’s local-files directory and a Steam Play compatibility tool.
- In Steam, open the game’s Installed Files page and select Browse.
- Place the BepInEx contents in that directory.
- Extract each mod and place each plugin in its own folder under
BepInEx/plugins. - In Gaming Mode, open the game’s Properties.
- Open Compatibility and enable Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool.
- In Properties → General → Launch Options, add:

A reliable installation order
- Confirm the game’s version or branch.
- Choose a mod manager profile, or identify the game’s executable directory for a manual install.
- Install the matching Mono BepInEx 5 package.
- Launch the unmodded BepInEx setup once, verify it, and close the game.
- Install Configuration Manager if a mod requires it.
- Install dependencies before the main mod.
- Install one major mod at a time and launch the game after each significant change.
- Keep backups of saves and remove incompatible or deprecated packages rather than mixing them into a working profile.
