Check each mod’s requirements and supported game version before copying files; the manager cannot make an outdated mod compatible with a game update.
Before installing a mod
These instructions are for the PC version. Mod installation paths and dependencies vary, so start with the individual mod page rather than assuming every download is a Fluffy-ready archive.
- Find the game’s installation folder; REFramework’s non-VR loader goes in the game root.
- Read the mod page’s requirements, supported game version, installation directions, optional files, and update notes.
- Get the file from the host named by the mod author. The REFramework ecosystem guide points to Nexus Mods for packaged mods, GitHub for newer or technical tools, and REFramework’s own documentation for framework components: Finding and Installing Mods for REFramework.
- Keep the original download until you have confirmed the mod works. Do not edit the game’s base archives unless the mod’s instructions explicitly require it.
Install packaged PAK mods with Fluffy Mod Manager
Fluffy Mod Manager is the convenient route when a mod is packaged as a PAK or its author explicitly supports Fluffy. Its Dragon’s Dogma 2 instructions say to select the game, add the mod to the game-specific Mods folder, then click its entry to install or uninstall it.
- Download and extract Fluffy Mod Manager somewhere convenient, launch it, and select Dragon’s Dogma 2.
- Add the mod archive through the manager or copy/drag the PAK mod into
[modmanager]GamesDragonsDogma2_CharaMods. This is the Dragon’s Dogma 2 path given on Fluffy’s page. - Click the mod entry in the manager to install it. Click it again to uninstall.
- If the mod lists a dependency such as REFramework or Script Core, install that dependency using its own instructions before diagnosing the mod itself.
Fluffy can manage files; it cannot resolve a mod that does not support the game’s current version. Its documentation warns that some mods may stop working after a game update.

Install REFramework when a mod requires it
REFramework is a separate framework used by some mods for scripts, plugins, framework functions, and loose-file loading. Do not install it just because a download is called a mod: follow that mod’s requirements. The REFramework documentation for Dragon’s Dogma 2 distinguishes non-VR and VR setup; the non-VR steps below are the ordinary PC modding path.
- Download the REFramework build specified by the mod’s instructions.
- For non-VR, extract only
dinput8.dllfrom the archive into the game’s root folder, as the documentation directs. - Install the mod’s own files in the location it specifies. As a general folder map, the REFramework ecosystem guide lists Lua scripts (
.lua) inreframework/autorun/and native Windows plugins (.dll) inreframework/plugins/. Plugins load at startup; a Lua script can be reloaded without restarting. Follow the individual Dragon’s Dogma 2 mod’s directions if they differ.
For Linux/Proton, the REFramework documentation lists this Steam launch option after extracting the loader: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8.dll=n,b" %command%. Use that route only if the mod itself supports the platform. The documentation’s VR route requires the appropriate VR runtime setup and is not the standard non-VR installation.

Install loose-file and mesh mods
Some mods are not PAK archives. Loose-file mesh mods can require REFramework’s LooseFilesLoader, and their files must preserve the folder structure expected under natives. Follow the specific mod page: a wrong folder structure or missing dependency can keep files from loading.
The Mesh Mod Enabler page gives two installation routes for its own mesh mod: place the download in Fluffy’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mods folder and install it through Fluffy, or copy the included reframework folder into the game directory. The page also directs users to enable LooseFilesLoader in the REFramework menu, opened with Insert, unless Fluffy is handling mesh installation.

- Compatible with Windows and Android.
- 1000Hz Polling Rate (for 2.4G and wired connection)
- Hall Effect joysticks and Hall triggers. Wear-resistant metal joystick rings.
- Extra R4/L4 bumpers. Custom button mapping without using software. Turbo function.
- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
That page’s compatibility notes apply to its mod: replacement mesh filenames must match the meshes being replaced, and it lists tops, helms, pants, and mantles as supported categories. Those details should not be treated as universal limits or rules for every mesh mod.
Choose the right installation route
| Route | Use it when | Main destination | Key caveat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluffy Mod Manager | The mod is a PAK or its page explicitly supports Fluffy | [modmanager]GamesDragonsDogma2_CharaMods, then enable it in the manager |
It manages installation but does not make an incompatible mod work with a newer game version. |
| REFramework | A mod requires scripts, plugins, framework functions, or loose-file loading | dinput8.dll in the game root; scripts and plugins in documented framework subfolders |
Install it when required and check the mod’s supported game version. |
| Manual, mod-specific copy | The mod page explicitly directs manual placement | The exact folder and structure named on that page | Record what you add so obsolete files can be removed carefully. |
Check the installation and troubleshoot problems
For a first setup, add one mod at a time and launch the game to check whether it loads and the expected change appears. If a mod does not show up or the game crashes, work through these checks:

- Confirm the file type matches the installer: a PAK belongs in the Fluffy workflow if the mod supports it; a script, plugin, or loose file may need REFramework or a specific manual path.
- Recheck required dependencies and the exact folder structure in the mod’s instructions.
- Compare the mod’s supported game version and latest update notes with the build you are running.
- If you installed a framework component, check whether the mod requires REFramework and whether the correct component is present.
Recover after a game update or remove a mod
A game patch can break a mod even when its installation method has not changed. Fluffy’s documentation says some mods may be incompatible with a new game version; its recovery guidance includes uninstalling mods, using force uninstall if needed, verifying Steam files as a precaution, and rereading game archives. See the applicable Fluffy Mod Manager documentation for those steps.
To temporarily remove the basic non-VR REFramework loader, its documented core file is dinput8.dll in the game root. Before deleting framework folders or other files, check which mods rely on them and back up configuration files. For manually copied mods, remove only the files you recorded as belonging to that mod.
