Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →To run Esseker on an Arma 3 Exile server, start with a working Altis installation, obtain a lawful Esseker package whose dependency is still available, install that dependency alongside @Esseker and @Exile, copy every required .bikey into the server’s Keys folder, launch the same mod set on server and clients, and change the Exile mission template to Exile.Esseker. The difficult part is choosing a compatible package: older releases expect All in Arma Terrain Pack, while newer examples use CUP Terrains-Core. The original Workshop listing is currently removed and marked incompatible with Arma 3, so verify the distribution, keys and version before you deploy.

What you need before changing the server
Esseker is a large, unfinished terrain rather than a self-contained Exile conversion. Its 2015 Workshop description lists an area of 169 km² and approximately 1,480,000 objects, and explicitly says, “It is not a finished map.” Those figures describe the terrain as published at that time, not a current performance guarantee.

The original Workshop item currently reports that it was removed and is incompatible with Arma 3. Do not download an unverified mirror, bypass a creator’s access restrictions, or assume that a copy found elsewhere has the same files. Confirm that the package is lawfully available, identify the exact Exile and terrain dependency versions it names, and obtain the matching key files before taking the server offline.
- A functioning Arma 3 Exile server running Altis.
- File access to the server’s root directory, its
Keysdirectory, configuration files and database. - A client installation that can load the same required terrain and Exile mods.
- The Esseker archive and the dependency identified by that archive’s documentation.
- A way to create or upload PBO files and to merge BattlEye filters if the package supplies them.
1. Establish a known-good Altis baseline
Do not troubleshoot a new map and a broken Exile installation at the same time. The Exile community tutorial’s first instruction is: “Please, make sure that your vanilla server with Altis does function correctly.” Start the existing server without Esseker, join it with the normal client mod set, and confirm that the mission starts, players can connect, and the database-backed features you already use work.

Record the current launch command, the contents of the server Keys folder, the active Exile version and a backup of the configuration and database. If Altis does not start cleanly, repair that installation first. A known-good baseline gives you a meaningful comparison when a missing addon, key or mission-template error appears after the map is added.
2. Identify the correct Esseker package and dependency generation
Esseker packages in circulation do not all use the same terrain framework. The older community procedure uses @AllInArmaTerrainPack. Newer repository examples use @CUPTerrains-Core; a v3 example also documents PBO deployment and BattlEye filter merging. These are different package generations, not two folders that should automatically be loaded together.

Use the dependency named by your archive
Open the package documentation and read its required-mod list before copying files. If it names All in Arma Terrain Pack, use the version that package was built against. If it names CUP Terrains-Core, install that CUP component and any other CUP content the package explicitly requires. Do not substitute a similarly named release simply because it is newer, and do not load both dependency generations to “cover” missing files; overlapping terrain assets can create version conflicts and obscure the real error.
Check related object packs separately
One v2 repository launch line includes @A2OP, @Esseker and @Exile. Treat @A2OP as a package-specific requirement, not a universal Esseker prerequisite. The Workshop description says Esseker requires All in Arma Terrain Pack or a CUP Terrains option with Chernarus objects. Your obtained archive’s readme takes precedence over a historical example.
Expect legacy documentation
Most Esseker and Exile instructions are legacy material. Before installation, recheck the current lawful distribution, the dependency’s name, the Exile version, required keys and your hosting panel’s supported mod syntax. No current official replacement distribution was identified in the available material, so an old tutorial should not be treated as proof that a download or dependency is still maintained.

3. Build the server’s mod folders
Place the dependency, Esseker and Exile folders in the server directory that contains the Arma 3 server executable (or in the location your provider exposes as the mod root). Preserve the folder names used by the package so the launch parameter points to the actual directories.
ServerRoot/
@AllInArmaTerrainPack/ (only for packages that require it)
@CUPTerrains-Core/ (only for packages that require it)
@A2OP/ (only if your package lists it)
@Esseker/
@Exile/
@ExileServer/
Keys/
The two terrain dependency folders in that example are alternatives. A package that was built for All in Arma should not be silently converted to CUP, and a CUP-based package should not be made to depend on an obsolete All in Arma installation without documentation confirming compatibility.
Keep server and client content symmetrical
The server must have the content needed to load the terrain and mission, while every connecting client must load the required client-side mods. Give players the exact mod names and versions from the package documentation. A server that starts successfully can still reject a player whose client lacks a terrain addon or has a different build.
4. Add the required launch parameters
Add each installed folder to the server’s mod parameter. A CUP-based example is:
-mod=@CUPTerrains-Core;@Esseker;@Exile;...
Use the package’s equivalent for an All in Arma installation, for example:

-mod=@AllInArmaTerrainPack;@Esseker;@Exile;...
The semicolon-separated syntax shown above is an example of the folder list, not a complete command for every host. Keep your existing server options, profile path, port, configuration path and other required parameters. If your panel has separate fields for server-side and client-side mods, enter the same required terrain and Exile content in the appropriate fields rather than pasting a Windows command into a text box that expects a different format.
A newer repository example lists @A2OP, @Esseker and @Exile in its launch line. Add that object pack only when the package you obtained explicitly requires it. A missing folder, a misspelled name or a path that points to the wrong server directory produces a missing-addon error even when the archive itself is intact.
5. Install BattlEye keys
Open the Keys directory under the server root and copy in the .bikey files supplied for Esseker and its terrain dependency. A typical installation therefore needs the key for the map and the key for whichever dependency generation you selected. Do not copy only the map key while omitting the dependency key.
Keys are checked by the server when a client connects. A missing or mismatched key commonly prevents BattlEye clients from joining, even if the map loads on the server console. Keep the original filenames, restart the server after copying them, and make sure you edited the active server’s Keys folder rather than a backup or a different instance.

class Missions
{
class Exile
{
template = Exile.Esseker;
difficulty = "ExileRegular";
};
};
The repository examples also show difficulty = "ExileHardcore";. Choose either ExileRegular or ExileHardcore as appropriate for your server; avoid inventing a custom difficulty value in these cited templates. The spelling and punctuation of Exile.Esseker matter: a template name that does not match the installed mission leaves the server unable to select the terrain mission.
Confirm the mission files exist
The template setting only selects a mission; it does not create one. Verify that the Esseker Exile mission directory supplied with your package is present in the server’s mission-content location and that it has been packed in the format your server expects. If the package uses a different mission folder name, follow its documented name rather than changing the configuration to a guess.
7. Deploy PBOs and BattlEye filters
The v3 repository instructions call for packing the relevant @ExileServer/addons and mpmission content as PBOs, then merging the package’s BattlEye filters. The exact PBO utility, destination folders and hosting-panel controls vary by environment, so use the layout documented by the package and your host.
- Back up the existing
@ExileServerand mission directories. - Pack the supplied server addon content into the PBO location expected by your Exile installation.
- Pack the Esseker mission content into the server’s
mpmissionlocation, preserving the mission’s internal directory structure. - Merge, rather than blindly replace, the package’s BattlEye filter files with your existing filters. Keep a copy of the pre-Esseker files so you can roll back.
- Check that the resulting PBO filenames and paths match the names referenced by the configuration and launch parameters.
A panel may hide these directories or perform PBO packing automatically. In that case, upload the files through the panel’s documented mod and mission fields and verify where it placed them before starting the instance.
8. Apply the database change only when your package requires it
The v3 repository documents a database foreign-key update for territory ownership. That SQL change belongs to that repository’s database schema; it is not a universal Esseker requirement. Do not run an unverified migration against an existing Exile database merely because a tutorial mentions it.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.
- Dual C-Clamp Hold - Worried your dual monitors might wobble or slip? Our upgraded base uses a larger platform plus a dual C-clamp structure to lock the dual monitor arm firmly to your desk. Each arm safely keeps your screens steady while you type, click and game—no shaking, no sliding, just a clean and secure setup you can trust every day. It also provides Grommet Mounting installation choice, both options ensure stable and secure fixation for your 0.59" - 3.54" desk.
- Full-Motion Adjustment For Comfortable View - Pull the screen closer when you’re deep in a spreadsheet, push it back to watch videos, or rotate to portrait for coding — moving everything smoothly with just one hand. The monitor stand offers +85°/-50° tilt, ±90° swivel and 360° rotation. Raise your monitor up to 15.75″ to support a healthy sitting posture. Whether you’re working from home, gaming through the night, or switching between video calls and documents, getting the screens to your natural line of sight helps relieve neck, shoulder and back strain so you can stay focused longer with less fatigue.
- Keep Your Desk Organized: By lifting both screens off the desktop, this dual monitor stand opens up valuable space for your keyboard, notebook, docking station or a simple, clutter-free work area. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Compare your package’s schema and migration instructions with the database you actually run. Back up the database, record the current schema version, and apply a foreign-key update only when the package explicitly requires it and you understand which table and constraint it changes. If your package does not document this migration, leave the schema untouched and troubleshoot map loading independently.

9. Start the server and verify the result
- Stop the Altis instance cleanly and start it with the new mod list and configuration.
- Watch the startup output for missing addons, missing PBOs, key errors and mission-template errors.
- Connect from a client that has the exact dependency, Esseker and Exile versions loaded.
- Confirm that the mission name and terrain are Esseker rather than Altis.
- Check that BattlEye permits the connection and that the normal Exile database features still work.
- Save the startup log and the final launch line as your new rollback reference.
No source provides a modern, universal log checklist, so treat log review as an operational verification step rather than a quoted requirement. The useful evidence is the specific error immediately before the failure: a missing addon points to the mod folders or PBOs, a key rejection points to Keys or version mismatch, and a mission-template error points to config.cfg or missing mission content.
Why the server still starts on Altis
The template was not changed in the active configuration
Confirm that the running instance uses the @ExileServer/config.cfg you edited and that the nested class reads template = Exile.Esseker;. Hosting panels sometimes expose more than one profile or configuration file; editing an unused copy leaves the launch behavior unchanged.
The Esseker mission is missing or misnamed
Check the mission directory and its packed PBO. A valid map mod does not automatically supply an Exile mission. Restore the package’s original mission name and internal structure, then restart.
An old command or panel preset overrides your settings
Inspect the effective launch line shown by the panel or startup log. Remove an old Altis template or replace the panel’s saved mission selection with the configuration-file setting required by your package.

| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Server reports a missing addon at startup | The dependency or Esseker folder is absent, misnamed or not in -mod; a required PBO was not deployed. |
Compare the package’s required-mod list with the effective launch line and inspect the server’s actual mod root. |
| Client is kicked for a key or signature problem | A required .bikey is missing, in the wrong Keys folder or does not match the installed build. |
Copy the map and dependency keys supplied with the same package, preserve their names, restart and retest. |
| Server loads but clients cannot join | The client lacks a required terrain/object mod or is running a different version. | Match the client’s mod set and versions to the server package; do not rely on the server’s successful startup alone. |
| Server starts on Altis | template still points to Altis, the wrong config is active, or the Esseker mission files are absent. |
Verify the active config.cfg, set Exile.Esseker, and confirm the mission PBO and folder name. |
| Terrain loads with missing buildings or objects | The package expects a particular All in Arma or CUP generation, or an additional object pack such as @A2OP. |
Use the dependency named by the archive and install optional packs only when its documentation lists them. |
| Database territory behavior fails after migration | A v3-specific foreign-key change was applied to an incompatible schema, or the required migration was skipped for that repository. | Restore the backup if necessary and follow the exact schema instructions for the package you adopted; do not apply a generic Esseker SQL change. |
Self-hosting or managed hosting?
Either route can work, but the deciding factor is whether the environment supports the dependency generation and file operations your package needs.
| Consideration | Self-hosted server | Managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Files and mods | Full control over mod folders, keys and launch parameters. | Convenient upload controls, but only the mods and versions exposed by the provider may be available. |
| PBO and configuration edits | Direct access to PBO tools, config.cfg and mission files. |
May provide an Esseker/Exile template; verify that custom PBOs and filters can be uploaded. |
| SteamCMD and dependency retrieval | You manage lawful downloads, updates and disk space. | The provider may manage downloads or restrict package versions; confirm the current Esseker dependency first. |
| Database and backups | You control SQL access, backups and any package-specific migration. | Ask whether database export, restore and foreign-key changes are supported. |
| Logs and recovery | Complete log and rollback access, with your own maintenance burden. | Support may help with restarts, but log retention and rollback options differ by provider. |
| Maintenance | You resolve dependency conflicts and BattlEye filter changes. | Less routine administration, but support may not maintain a legacy terrain or its required keys. |
A managed template is useful only if it exposes the exact dependency, mission files, keys and configuration controls your package needs. It does not remove the compatibility problem created by legacy Esseker distributions.
Maintenance and rollback checklist
- Keep a copy of the working Altis launch line and configuration.
- Record the exact Esseker archive, dependency generation, Exile version and key filenames used.
- Back up
@ExileServer, mission PBOs, BattlEye filters and the database before upgrades. - Test a dependency or Exile update on a separate instance before replacing the production folders.
- After every change, verify that clients have the same mod versions and that the server still uses
Exile.Esseker. - Remove obsolete dependency folders from the launch line instead of leaving both generations enabled.
- Recheck distribution availability and hosting-panel support before rebuilding a failed installation; old guides may describe files that are no longer maintained.
What a successful installation looks like
A successful deployment has one clearly identified Esseker package, one compatible terrain-dependency generation, matching server and client mod lists, the corresponding map and dependency keys in the active Keys directory, and an Exile configuration that selects Exile.Esseker. The server starts without missing-addon or template errors, clients pass BattlEye checks, and the world shown after connection is Esseker rather than Altis. If any one of those conditions is absent, return to the matching step instead of adding unrelated mods or database changes.
