To invite someone to edit an individually owned Roblox experience, open it in Studio, select Collaborate, find your Roblox friend, set their permission to Edit, then click Save. Group-owned experiences use group role permissions for editing, and Team Create’s age-check requirements can affect whether an invited editor can join the live session.
If you meant inviting players to join your game, that is a separate in-game feature—not a Studio editor invitation.
Invite a friend to edit an individually owned experience

Open the experience in Roblox Studio.

Click Collaborate on the right side of Studio’s mezzanine bar.

Search for the person in the collaborator search box. Roblox’s documented workflow identifies eligible Roblox friends with a Friend label; select the intended person.

Open the permissions dropdown and choose Edit.

Click Save to apply the collaboration setting.
Roblox distinguishes four access levels: Owner, Edit, Play and No Access. Edit also allows the collaborator to play; Play allows private play but not editing, while No Access allows neither. For user-owned experiences, the owner can grant Play to any user or group, but can grant Edit only to Roblox friends. See Roblox’s collaboration guidance for the documented workflow and permissions.
How access works for a group-owned experience
Editing a group-owned experience is controlled through group roles, not simply by granting an individual collaborator Edit from the same user-owned workflow. The group owner—or a member whose role has sufficient authority—can configure the role permission called Edit experiences in Creator Dashboard. Roblox also documents an individual collaborator workflow for group games, but that grants Play access; group role permissions govern Edit access.

Use Edit in Studio to open it. The collaborator must select the group in their own account switcher to find the group-owned experience.
The person changing access needs the appropriate group authority; if the role lacks permission to edit experiences, a group owner or authorized administrator must make the change. Roblox’s collaboration documentation describes group roles and the Creator Dashboard route.

Why an editor may not be able to join Team Create
Edit permission and entry into the live collaborative session are not always the same thing. Roblox Creator Hub’s current guidance says creators must complete an age check—through ID verification or facial age estimation—to use Studio collaboration tools with other creators through Team Create. A group or game owner must complete an age check to enable collaborators to join.
After the age check, eligibility depends on whether the people involved are in compatible age groups. To collaborate outside those groups, the first Team Create join may require trusted-friend status with existing collaborators or permission from a linked parent account, under Roblox’s documented conditions. If someone has Edit access but cannot join, check the age-check and age-group requirements in Roblox’s Team Create guidance.

Roblox says that collaborators blocked from joining because of age-based requirements still retain Edit permissions. The documented alternatives include Save As, Open Cloud APIs and managing game metadata; these do not provide the same live Team Create session.
What the invited collaborator should do
After receiving Edit access, the collaborator can find the experience in Creator Dashboard and select Edit in Studio. For a group-owned experience, they should first choose the group in the account switcher. Once in a collaborative session, Studio displays collaborators in the upper-right area.
Roblox says collaborative sessions automatically save to the cloud every four minutes. Be cautious when reverting an experience while other editors are still active: their later autosaves can overwrite the reverted state. The timing and warning are described in Roblox’s collaboration guidance.
Inviting an editor is different from inviting players
A Studio collaborator invitation grants development access to an experience. To let a player prompt friends to join while inside a published game, developers use Roblox’s separate Player invite prompts feature. Roblox documents checking SocialService:CanSendGameInviteAsync() and then calling SocialService:PromptGameInvite(); prompts can include optional custom text or launch data. These APIs invite players to play—they do not add someone as a Studio editor. See the Player invite prompts documentation.
