On PS4, join a featured Minecraft Bedrock server through Play > Servers. You need Minecraft Bedrock Edition, a Microsoft account linked to the console, and an active PlayStation Plus subscription for online console multiplayer.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Minecraft Bedrock servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
PS4 versions may not display Bedrock’s normal Add Server form for arbitrary addresses. To reach a private or community server, you can use the BedrockConnect DNS method: configure the PS4 with primary DNS 45.55.68.52 and secondary DNS 8.8.8.8, open a compatible featured server, and enter the destination server’s Bedrock address and port in the resulting server list.

Check these requirements before troubleshooting the game menu. Missing any one of them can prevent online play regardless of which server you choose.
- Minecraft Bedrock Edition for PS4: Install the game and update it to the version required by the server.
- A linked Microsoft account: Sign in to the Microsoft account used for Minecraft console multiplayer.
- PlayStation Plus: An active subscription is required for online console multiplayer on PS4. It enables the console connection; it does not provide a server address or host a world for you.
- For a custom server: Obtain the server’s Bedrock address and port from its owner or administrator. Both values may be required.
- A Bedrock-compatible destination: Java and Bedrock servers use different connection protocols. A Java server must have an explicit Bedrock-compatible endpoint or a cross-play bridge configured by its owner.
If Minecraft reports that multiplayer is disabled, resolve the account or PlayStation Plus requirement first. Changing DNS settings will not bypass an account restriction or an inactive subscription.

PlayStation Plus is a console online-multiplayer requirement, not a hosting service. Buying or renewing it does not create a server, supply an address, or convert a Java server to Bedrock. Likewise, owning Minecraft alone does not guarantee access to every privately operated server; the administrator still controls compatibility, ports, allowlists, and any registration process.
Join a featured server from the PS4 menu
Featured servers are the supported, built-in route on console. Minecraft’s official server guidance describes it simply: “Open Minecraft, click play, and use the Servers tab to see a list of featured servers!” The labels below are the menu path used on the PS4 Bedrock interface.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
- Start Minecraft and wait for the main menu.
- Sign in to the linked Microsoft account if the game asks you to authenticate.
- Select Play.
- Move to the Servers tab. The tab contains the featured server list rather than your local worlds.
- Highlight a server and choose Join Server.
- Read the online-play warning, then choose Proceed if you accept it.
- If the server requests a resource pack, allow the download. The world can load only after the required pack has finished downloading.
- Wait for the server world or lobby to load. The first connection can take longer while the game downloads content.
You do not need to type an address or port for a featured server. The listing supplies the connection details through Minecraft’s server menu.
If a server appears offline, give the list a moment to refresh and try again later. A normal featured-server lobby confirms that Minecraft reached that listing; it does not confirm that a separate custom endpoint is available through it.
Why the Add Server button is missing on PS4
Bedrock documentation for supported platforms describes an Add Server workflow in which you enter a server name, address, and port. Console builds do not always expose that form. On a PS4 installation that shows only the featured list under Play > Servers, the missing button is a platform limitation, not evidence that the server address is wrong.
This explains the common questions “Where is Add Server?” and “Why can’t I add a server on PS4?” You can still join the built-in featured servers directly. For an independent server, use a documented console workaround, join through a friend’s already connected session when that is available, or use a Realm invitation. A Realm or friend session is not the same as entering an arbitrary server address; it depends on the owner or invited player being able to provide access.

Connect to a custom Bedrock server with BedrockConnect
BedrockConnect documents a DNS-based method for console editions, including PlayStation, where a third-party server list is not natively available. The method redirects selected featured-server domains to a BedrockConnect interface. You then enter the real server’s Bedrock address and port there.
Important: The DNS address and the list of redirect-compatible featured servers are third-party project details. They can change or stop working. Use the current BedrockConnect project documentation when the procedure behaves differently from the steps below. The project describes itself as free and open source and warns that similarly named mobile applications are not associated with it.
This workaround changes how the PS4 resolves selected featured-server domains; it does not modify Minecraft’s installation or grant administrative rights on the destination. Use the address and port supplied by the server owner, and avoid entering credentials into an unrelated page or app that merely uses a similar name.
Set the PS4 DNS values
- From the PS4 home screen, open Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection.
- Choose the connection you use: Wi-Fi or LAN Cable.
- Select Custom rather than Easy.
- For IP Address Settings, choose Automatic.
- At DHCP Host Name, choose Do Not Specify.
- For DNS Settings, select Manual.
- Enter 45.55.68.52 as the primary DNS server.
- Enter 8.8.8.8 as the secondary DNS server.
- Leave MTU Settings on Automatic.
- Choose Do Not Use for the proxy server.
- Select Test Internet Connection and wait for the test to finish before launching Minecraft.
The DNS entries do not themselves identify your destination Minecraft server. They allow the redirect service to present a server-list screen when you enter through a compatible featured-server listing.

Record your previous network choices if you expect to switch back later. If another device on the same home network uses a different DNS configuration, that does not automatically change the PS4; these values are entered in the PS4 connection profile.
Open the redirected server list
- Launch Minecraft after the PS4 network test succeeds.
- Select Play, then open Servers.
- Select a featured server that is currently compatible with the BedrockConnect redirect. Examples documented for this method include Mineville, Lifeboat, Enchanted, Galaxite, and The Hive. The available choices can change, so do not assume every listed server will work indefinitely.
- Wait for the redirect to open the BedrockConnect server-list interface instead of the normal featured-server lobby.
- Enter the target server’s Bedrock address in the address field.
- Enter the target server’s port exactly as supplied by the server owner.
- Submit the entry and wait for the connection attempt to complete.
If the redirect opens a normal featured-server lobby, that particular listing may no longer be compatible, or the DNS setup may not have taken effect. Follow the troubleshooting section rather than repeatedly entering the destination details into the normal lobby.
Information to request from the server owner
Ask for the exact Bedrock endpoint, not only a website name or a Java edition address. The useful format is a hostname or IP address plus a numeric port. Also ask which Minecraft version the server currently accepts and whether it requires a resource pack, account registration, or an allowlist. BedrockConnect can forward the connection, but it cannot make an incompatible Java endpoint accept Bedrock players.
Ask whether the port is the Bedrock port specifically. Some hosts publish separate Java and Bedrock ports, and copying the Java value can produce a timeout or rejection that looks like a PS4 network problem. If the owner changes hosting providers or editions, request the endpoint again rather than relying on an old message.

| Chance that labels or endpoints change | Usually limited to Minecraft menu or listing changes | Higher; DNS values, redirect targets, and project behavior can change |
Check compatibility before blaming the PS4 connection
Bedrock is not automatically Java-compatible
A server advertised for Minecraft Java Edition is not automatically reachable from Bedrock Edition. The owner must provide a Bedrock endpoint or configure a cross-play bridge. If a server rejects the connection even though the address resolves, ask its administrator whether Bedrock players are supported and which endpoint they should use.
Match the address, port, and game version
Verify every character of the address and the numeric port. A correct hostname with the wrong port can look like a network failure. The same is true when the server has updated to a version your PS4 game does not yet run. Update Minecraft before testing again, then confirm the server’s supported version with its owner.
Understand resource-pack prompts
Featured and custom destinations may require a resource pack. Accepting the download is part of joining that world; declining or interrupting it can leave you at the menu or disconnect you before the world finishes loading.
Troubleshooting PS4 server connections
“Multiplayer is disabled” or no online access
- Confirm that Minecraft is signed in to the intended Microsoft account.
- Check that the PlayStation Plus subscription is active on the PS4 account being used for online play.
- Run the PS4 internet connection test and retry the featured-server steps.
Do not treat the DNS workaround as a substitute for these requirements. The console still needs an eligible account and online multiplayer access.
The Servers tab is present, but no custom Add Server field appears
That can be normal for the PS4 console interface. Use a featured server for the native route. For a privately supplied Bedrock endpoint, apply the BedrockConnect procedure and enter the address and port only in its redirected server-list screen.

The PS4 connects to the internet, but no redirect appears
- Return to Settings > Network > Set Up Internet Connection and verify that the connection is set to Custom.
- Confirm primary DNS is 45.55.68.52 and secondary DNS is 8.8.8.8, with IP address settings on Automatic, DHCP host name set to Do Not Specify, MTU on Automatic, and proxy set to Do Not Use.
- Run Test Internet Connection again.
- In Minecraft, try a different featured server from the currently documented redirect-compatible list.
- Check the current BedrockConnect project documentation. The DNS endpoint or compatible target list may have changed.
The redirect opens, but the target server rejects the connection
- Recheck the Bedrock address and port with the server owner.
- Confirm the endpoint supports Bedrock rather than Java only.
- Check whether your Minecraft version matches the server’s required version.
- Ask whether the server uses an allowlist, registration step, or required resource pack.
A featured server loads normally instead of BedrockConnect
The selected listing may no longer be redirect-compatible, or the PS4 may still be using its previous DNS settings. Retest the network configuration, then choose another compatible featured listing from the project’s current documentation.
The method worked previously and stopped working
Treat the DNS address and redirect targets as changeable project details rather than permanent PS4 features. Recheck the current BedrockConnect documentation before making additional network changes. If the project has changed its instructions or endpoint, follow the newer values and compatible-server list.
What to do when custom joining is not practical
If the target server has no working Bedrock endpoint, the owner has not supplied a valid port, or the redirect service is unavailable, the PS4 cannot turn that destination into a supported connection by itself. Ask the owner for a Bedrock-compatible endpoint, or join through a friend’s session or a Realm invitation when the world is offered that way. Those alternatives avoid entering a custom address but require the owner or friend to provide access.
For a one-time private game, a friend session or Realm can be simpler than changing DNS. For a persistent community world, ask the administrator whether an official featured listing or a maintained Bedrock endpoint is available. Do not assume that a server’s Java website, Discord address, or domain name alone is enough to connect from PS4.

How do I join a Minecraft Bedrock server on PS4?
For a featured server, sign in to Microsoft, confirm PlayStation Plus, open Minecraft, choose Play > Servers, select a listing, accept the warning, and download any required resource pack. For a private server, use the BedrockConnect DNS method and enter its Bedrock address and port in the redirected list.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhy can’t I add a server on PS4?
Some PS4 Bedrock builds show only featured servers and omit the general Add Server form available on other Bedrock platforms. That is a console-interface limitation. Use a featured listing, a friend or Realm invitation, or the documented DNS redirect for a compatible custom endpoint.
Where is the Add Server button on Minecraft PS4?
If your Servers tab has no Add Server control, there may be no button to enable. The native PS4 menu is limited to its featured list. BedrockConnect supplies a separate server-list screen after the DNS and redirect steps are working.
Can PS4 join a custom Bedrock server?
Yes, when the destination supports Bedrock and you have its address and port. Because the PS4 may not expose Add Server directly, the BedrockConnect DNS workaround is commonly used to reach the custom details screen. Its DNS values and compatible featured targets can change.
Do I need PS Plus to play Minecraft servers?
Yes. An active PlayStation Plus subscription is required for online console multiplayer on PS4. It does not host a server, provide a server address, or replace the Microsoft account sign-in requirement.
Can I join a Java server from Bedrock on PS4?
Not automatically. Java and Bedrock use distinct connection protocols. The server owner must operate a Bedrock endpoint or an explicit cross-play bridge and provide the correct Bedrock address and port.

What if I have an IP address but no port?
Ask the administrator for the Bedrock port. A hostname or IP without the correct port may fail even when the server is online. Do not guess by copying a Java port; hosts can publish separate values for each edition.
Why does the featured server open normally instead of the custom-server list?
The selected listing may no longer support the redirect, or the PS4 may not be using the manual DNS settings. Retest the connection, verify both DNS values and the other Custom settings, try another compatible listing, and check the project’s current instructions.
Are the DNS addresses permanent?
No. The BedrockConnect project controls its redirect service, so the DNS endpoint and compatible featured-server list may change. If the method stops working, consult the current project documentation rather than repeatedly changing unrelated Minecraft settings.

The pack is content required by that server or world. Allowing it lets the connection continue; declining or interrupting the download can return you to the menu or disconnect you before loading finishes.
Key points to remember
- For a featured server, the complete native path is Minecraft > Play > Servers, followed by Join Server.
- Microsoft account sign-in and active PlayStation Plus are prerequisites for PS4 online multiplayer.
- The absence of Add Server on PS4 is a console-interface limitation seen on builds that expose only featured servers.
- BedrockConnect’s documented workaround uses primary DNS 45.55.68.52 and secondary DNS 8.8.8.8, then redirects through a compatible featured listing.
- The destination must support Bedrock. Java and Bedrock server connections are distinct unless the owner provides a cross-play bridge or separate Bedrock endpoint.
- DNS values, redirect targets, menu labels, and server requirements can change, so verify the current instructions whenever a previously working setup fails.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I join a Minecraft Bedrock server on PS4?
Use Play > Servers for a featured server. For a private server, configure the BedrockConnect DNS values, open a compatible featured listing, and enter the destination’s Bedrock address and port.
Why can’t I add a server on PS4?
Some PS4 Bedrock builds do not expose the general Add Server form. That is a console-interface limitation, so use featured servers, a Realm or friend invitation, or the documented DNS workaround.
Do I need PS Plus to play Minecraft servers?
Yes. Active PlayStation Plus is required for PS4 online console multiplayer. It does not supply a server address or host a world.
Can PS4 join a Java server?
Only if the owner provides a Bedrock endpoint or configures an explicit Java-Bedrock cross-play bridge.
What information should a custom server owner provide?
Request the Bedrock hostname or IP, numeric Bedrock port, supported game version, resource-pack requirement, registration instructions, and any allowlist requirement.
Why does BedrockConnect open a normal featured lobby?
The listing may no longer be redirect-compatible, or the PS4 may still use its old DNS settings. Retest the connection, verify the values, try another compatible listing, and consult current project instructions.
Are BedrockConnect’s DNS values permanent?
No. The third-party endpoint and redirect-compatible server list can change. Check the current BedrockConnect documentation if the method stops working.
The Bottom Line
For the simplest PS4 experience, open Minecraft and use Play > Servers to join a featured Bedrock server. You need a linked Microsoft account and active PlayStation Plus. If your PS4 lacks Add Server, a custom destination requires a Bedrock address and port plus the BedrockConnect DNS workaround: primary 45.55.68.52, secondary 8.8.8.8. Because those third-party details can change, verify the current compatible-server list before troubleshooting further.
