To join or leave a Roblox group, use the Communities section on the Roblox website or app. Roblox now calls these social groups “Communities.” This guide covers Communities—not Roblox group chats or Parties, which use separate controls.
How to join a Roblox group (Community)
You can find and join a Community from its page on the Roblox website or app.

On the Roblox website
- Select Communities in the left navigation.
- Find or select the Community you want, then open its page.
- Select Join Community.
In the Roblox app
- Open More (…) at the bottom of the screen, or use the left navigation if that is how your device displays the app.
- Tap Communities. You can also look under My Communities when searching.
- Select the Community to open its page, then tap Join Community.
Why can’t I join a Roblox group?
A Community may allow people to join immediately, or require approval or account verification. Roblox Support explains these settings in Community Roles and Permissions.

If the owner has enabled manual approval, selecting Join Community submits a request rather than making you a member immediately. Wait for the owner to approve it. The Community may also ask you to complete an additional step, such as sending the owner a personal message.

Verification requirements
Owners can choose a verification level for people who are not yet members. Roblox lists four levels:
- None: No verification is required. This is the default.
- Low: Phone, email, or ID verification.
- Medium: ID verification, or both phone and email verification.
- High: ID verification.
If your account does not meet the selected level, Roblox prompts you to verify when you try to join. A change to the verification level applies to prospective members; it does not remove existing members who do not meet the new requirement.

How to leave a Roblox group
- Open Communities on the website or in the app.
- Select the Community you want to leave.
- Select Leave Community. On the website, Roblox’s instructions place the button on the side of the page; it may also appear in the Community page controls menu. The layout can vary by app or website version.
Before leaving a Community you own
Leaving a Community you own can mean losing the ability to regain ownership just by rejoining. Roblox Support states: “If you leave a community that you own, you will not be able to regain ownership by rejoining the community later.” If you want to keep control, review the ownership-transfer option before leaving. Roblox also says a Community may be left without an owner if its owner leaves without transferring ownership, unless another member claims it.
How many Roblox Communities can you join?
Roblox Support says an account can join up to 100 Communities. Creating a Community is separate: Roblox lists a one-time cost of 100 Robux to create each one. These limits and the creation cost are stated in Roblox Support’s How to create a Community.
