Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If CameraFi Live stops broadcasting when your Android phone’s screen turns off, first separate a screen timeout from locking the phone or leaving the app. Keep CameraFi Live in the foreground, extend the screen timeout for a short test, then check the app’s battery or background-usage settings and repeat the test while charging. These steps can help identify the cause, but they cannot guarantee screen-off streaming on every Android phone.
First find out what interrupts the stream
A display that goes dark is not always the same condition as a locked phone, a backgrounded app, or an idle device. Test these separately before changing settings. Check the outgoing broadcast from another device or the destination platform’s preview, rather than relying only on what CameraFi Live displays locally.
- Screen timeout: The display turns off after its timeout while CameraFi Live remains open.
- Locking: You press the power button or otherwise lock the phone.
- Backgrounding: You switch to another app or leave CameraFi Live.
- Idle and unplugged: The phone is stationary, screen-off, and not charging.
Record which condition coincides with the interruption. Also note whether you are streaming from the camera or screen, since CameraFi Live supports both modes and the behavior may differ.
Try a controlled troubleshooting sequence
- Establish a baseline. Open CameraFi Live, start a short stream with the screen awake, and verify that the broadcast is reaching its destination. CameraFi’s beginner guide, dated December 27, 2024, describes choosing camera or screen mode and a platform; available settings depend on the selected platform.
- Extend the screen timeout temporarily. Find the display timeout control in your phone’s Settings and set a longer interval for the test. Keep CameraFi Live visible. If the stream remains stable until the display turns off, but fails after locking or leaving the app, those are different conditions to investigate.
- Inspect CameraFi Live’s battery controls. In Android Settings, open the app information page for CameraFi Live and look for Battery, App battery usage, or background-usage controls. If your phone offers a less restrictive or unrestricted option, try it and repeat the same short test. Menu labels and available choices vary by Android version and manufacturer; there is no universal path or setting name.
- Repeat while the phone is charging. Use the same mode, destination, and network as in the earlier test. Android’s Doze documentation says a device can enter Doze when it is unplugged, stationary, and screen-off, and that connecting a charger exits Doze. A charging test is useful for diagnosis, but does not prove Doze caused the interruption or guarantee a fix.
- Contact CameraFi if it still stops. Send the phone model, Android version, CameraFi Live version, broadcast mode, destination, whether the app was foregrounded or backgrounded, whether the screen was locked, and whether the phone was charging to [email protected].
Why Android can interrupt a screen-off stream
Android’s Doze mode is one possible explanation, not a diagnosis of a particular CameraFi failure. Android Developers says that when a device is unplugged and stationary with the screen off for a period, it enters Doze; Doze restricts network access and ignores wake locks. Turning on the screen, moving the device, or connecting a charger exits Doze. A stream interruption can also involve the app’s own behavior, manufacturer-specific power management, the network, or the selected destination.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
There is a separate platform constraint for camera and microphone access. Android’s foreground-service guidance says that on Android 11 and later, apps targeting Android 11 or higher must declare camera and microphone foreground-service types when accessing those resources through a foreground service. Under the documented rules, a foreground service started while an app is already in the background cannot access the camera or microphone. This developer guidance does not disclose CameraFi Live’s implementation, and it does not mean a user setting can make background camera access unconditional.
CameraFi’s FAQ states, as of December 20, 2024, that screen broadcasting is supported only on Android and discusses internal-audio capture restrictions. That statement concerns screen broadcasting and audio; it is not a promise that a screen broadcast—or a camera broadcast—will continue with the display off.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
What not to assume or change blindly
- There is no documented universal screen-off switch. CameraFi’s guide and FAQ do not establish a setting that guarantees the stream will persist on every device.
- Do not treat “disable battery optimization” as a universal recipe. Android manufacturers add their own power controls, and names and effects vary.
- Do not install a wake-lock app on the assumption that it overrides the phone. Android warns that wake locks can quickly drain the battery. A wake lock also does not remove the platform’s app and device restrictions.
- Do not infer the cause from one charging test. Charging exits Doze according to Android’s documentation, but a successful test only narrows the possibilities; network, app, heat, or manufacturer behavior may still matter.
