To stop one sleep meditation from repeating, play a playlist containing multiple videos and turn on playlist repeat—not repeat-one. On Android, a loop icon marked “1” means only the current video is looping; tap Loop again to switch to the playlist. YouTube does not document a guaranteed shuffle order or a minimum time before a video can return.
Set the playlist to repeat, not the current video
First make sure the sleep meditations are in a playlist with several distinct videos, then start playback from that playlist. The repeat control can apply either to the current video or to the whole playlist. YouTube’s playlist repeat instructions describe the device-specific controls; their location and wording may vary by app version.
On a computer
- Open a video that belongs to the playlist.
- Expand the playlist panel beside the player.
- Click Loop in the playlist box to repeat the playlist.
On Android
- Start a video from the playlist.
- Open the playlist controls and tap Loop.
- Check the loop icon: if it shows “1,” YouTube is repeating only the current video. Tap Loop again to select playlist repeat.
On a TV or gaming console
- Start playback from the playlist.
- Open the player controls and select Repeat until the label reads “Repeat • Playlist.”
Make a playlist with enough variety
A playlist is a collection of videos. Use YouTube’s playlist creation and management instructions to add multiple sleep meditations that suit your needs, then start playback from the playlist itself. More distinct videos give the player more content to cycle through, but do not guarantee a particular order or a fixed wait before a video returns.
Playlist repeat, Autoplay, and Sleep Timer do different things

What you can—and cannot—control about repeats
YouTube’s help documents playlist repeat and single-video repeat, but does not establish a shuffle algorithm, a guaranteed no-repeat period, or a rule that every item must play once before any video returns. A larger, varied playlist may reduce how often the same item comes around in ordinary cycling, but there is no documented repeat interval to rely on.

If you build an embedded player rather than use YouTube’s regular viewer controls, Google’s IFrame Player API parameters document the loop option. For a playlist player, it loops the playlist. For a single video, the documentation says to set the playlist parameter to that same video ID along with loop=1. This API guidance applies to embeds, not the ordinary controls in the YouTube app or website.
Troubleshooting: one meditation keeps coming back
- The same video restarts as soon as it ends: Check whether repeat-one is selected. On Android, a “1” on the loop icon identifies that state; tap Loop again for playlist repeat.
- Another video plays, but it is not from your playlist: Turn Autoplay off, then start the intended playlist again.
- The whole list does not cycle on a TV or console: Open the playback controls and check that the label says “Repeat • Playlist.”
- A video returns sooner than you expected: YouTube does not promise a minimum no-repeat interval or a particular shuffle order. Add more distinct videos if you want more variety in the playlist.
