In AssettoServer, the documented commands are /kick <id> <reason> and /kick_id <id> <reason> for a removable kick, and /ban <id> <reason> and /ban_id <id> <reason> for a ban. The reason is optional and is shown to the affected player.
Godlike.Host offers hosted Assetto Corsa servers with its own game panel, SFTP access and free DDoS protection, if you would rather not host it yourself.
What happens after the command depends on the server implementation. A normal kick usually allows the driver to join again, while a restart-duration block or a persistent blacklist can prevent rejoining for longer. The command names below come from AssettoServer documentation; other dedicated-server wrappers and hosting panels may use different labels or may not implement every command.

Know which server implementation you are running
Assetto Corsa servers are not all managed through the same program. AssettoServer is a custom dedicated-server implementation that can be installed in the Assetto Corsa server directory and configured through Content Manager or a dedicated-server package. Assetto Server Manager adds its own configuration and blacklist controls, while a hosted service may replace local file editing with a web panel or an upload workflow.
That distinction matters because /kick, /ban, BLACKLIST_MODE, and blacklist.txt are implementation-specific terms. If a command is rejected, do not assume your password is wrong until you have confirmed that the running server actually supports that command family. The procedure below uses AssettoServer syntax and then explains the equivalent persistence choices exposed by Assetto Server Manager.

Get administrator access before issuing a moderation command
The server must recognize you as an administrator before it will accept administrative chat commands. There are two documented AssettoServer approaches.
Log in with the configured administrator password
AssettoServer documents the command /admin <adminPassword>. Replace <adminPassword> with the password configured in the server’s server_cfg.ini. Enter the command through the in-game chat or whichever server-console chat interface your deployment provides.
- Open the server’s active
server_cfg.iniand verify the administrator password that is currently loaded. - Join the server with the same client account you use to moderate it.
- Enter
/admin <adminPassword>, replacing the placeholder with the configured value. - Wait for the server’s confirmation that your session has administrator privileges.
- Only after authentication, run the kick or ban command.
Assetto Server Manager describes its ADMIN_PASSWORD setting as the password used to be recognized as server administrator. If you change the file while the server is running, restart or reload it according to that manager’s procedure so the active process is using the new value; a password in an un-reloaded file will not authenticate you.
Use automatic administration with admins.txt
AssettoServer can also grant administrator access automatically when your SteamID is placed in admins.txt in the server folder. This removes the need to type the password each session, but it has an important prerequisite: Steam authentication must be enabled. AssettoServer warns that using SteamID-based administration with Steam authentication disabled can permit SteamID spoofing and allow an attacker to obtain administrator rights.

- Enable the server’s Steam authentication first.
- Add the intended moderator’s SteamID to
admins.txtin the correct server directory. - Restart the server if the implementation requires a restart to reread the file.
- Test with a non-destructive administrative action before relying on the access during a live event.
Do not distribute the administrator password in public chat or put an unprotected copy of it in a shared configuration repository. If several people moderate the server, give access only to trusted operators and remove entries when their role ends.
Identify the driver you intend to remove
The command’s <id> argument must identify the target driver. AssettoServer’s command reference allows the player’s car ID or player name. A car ID is generally safer when names are duplicated, truncated, contain unusual characters, or are difficult to type while a race is active.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Open the player list, timing screen, or server interface that shows connected drivers.
- Record the target’s car ID exactly as displayed. If your interface does not expose that identifier, copy the player’s exact in-game name.
- Check that you have selected the correct car before submitting a punitive command, especially when several drivers are involved in an incident.
- Use the identifier in the command without angle brackets; the brackets in documentation indicate a value to replace.
For example, if the target’s car ID is 17, the command begins with /kick 17. If you use a name, preserve the spelling and spacing accepted by your server’s chat parser. Because wrappers differ, a name that works in one implementation may require the car ID in another.
Kick a player for a reversible removal
A kick ends the player’s current session without necessarily preventing a new connection. AssettoServer documents both /kick <id> <reason> and /kick_id <id> <reason>. The reason is optional, but providing a short, factual explanation makes the action understandable to the driver and to other moderators reviewing the incident.

- Authenticate with
/admin <adminPassword>, or confirm thatadmins.txthas granted your account administrator access. - Find the target car ID or accepted player-name identifier.
- Enter the command, such as
/kick 17 reckless driving. - Confirm that the server reports the removal and that the intended driver, not another car, left the session.
- Record the incident if your community keeps moderation notes, including the time, identifier, reason, and any warning that preceded it.
Use a normal kick for a one-off disruption, a mistaken connection, a failure to follow an event instruction, or a warning where the driver may return after correcting the problem. A kick is not a permanent sanction: a driver who reconnects has not necessarily bypassed your moderation system; that is the expected behavior of a normal kick.
Ban a player when a stronger block is justified
AssettoServer documents /ban <id> <reason> and /ban_id <id> <reason>. As with kicks, the reason can be omitted, but a concise explanation is preferable for a transparent moderation record.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Verify that the server implementation supports the ban command family you plan to use.
- Authenticate as an administrator.
- Identify the driver using the identifier accepted by that implementation, normally the car ID or player name in the documented AssettoServer syntax.
- Submit a command such as
/ban 17 repeated intentional collisions. - Check the server response and confirm the driver’s connection has ended or the account has been blocked as expected.
- Document the duration or removal condition used by your server’s blacklist system.
The command reference establishes the syntax, but it does not make every wrapper’s ban behavior identical. Some deployments treat a ban as a persistent blacklist entry; others expose separate temporary or restart-duration modes. Before announcing a permanent sanction, inspect the active manager’s blacklist settings and verify the result with your own server’s documented status or file.
Choose how long the block should last
Assetto Server Manager describes three blacklist behaviors. Select the least restrictive option that solves the problem and apply your community’s published rules consistently.

| Action or setting | How the driver can rejoin | Appropriate use |
|---|---|---|
| Normal kick | The driver may reconnect immediately. | One-off disruption, warning, or a connection that needs to be reset. |
Restart-duration block (BLACKLIST_MODE=1 in a compatible manager) |
The driver remains blocked until the server restarts. | A short event or session sanction where a permanent record is not warranted. |
| Persistent blacklist | The driver remains blocked until the entry is removed from blacklist.txt. |
Repeated abuse or a serious rule violation covered by your server policy. |
The restart-duration and persistent behaviors are manager-level settings, not universal properties of every Assetto Corsa server. Confirm the active BLACKLIST_MODE value and check whether the manager writes the target to blacklist.txt. If the file is edited manually, stop the server or follow the manager’s safe-edit procedure so a running process does not overwrite your change.
When a kicked driver returns
A returning driver after a normal kick is not evidence that the command failed. It means the selected behavior permits rejoining. If your event rules require the driver to stay out until the session ends, use the restart-duration mode in a compatible manager. If the player must remain blocked across restarts, use the persistent blacklist behavior and retain a record of why and when the entry was created.
Hosted servers and the files you still need
A hosted deployment can hide the operating-system details without removing the underlying configuration concepts. The documented hosted workflow from AC Cloud asks the operator to upload both server_cfg.ini and entry_list.ini, and to provide an administration password. Your provider may present these as upload fields, an editor, or a control-panel setting rather than as local files.
- Locate the host’s server-configuration page or file-upload area.
- Upload or edit the active
server_cfg.iniandentry_list.inias required by the host. - Set the administration password in the location the host specifies.
- Start or restart the instance so the new configuration is loaded.
- Join the server and authenticate before attempting moderation commands.
If a web panel offers buttons labelled “Kick,” “Ban,” or “Blacklist,” those controls may call a different backend than the AssettoServer chat commands. Use the panel’s own target list and duration selector, and do not assume that a button labelled “Ban” creates the same persistent blacklist.txt entry used by Assetto Server Manager.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. We recommend carefully checking that your desk and monitors meets all above conditions before purchasing.

Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
Troubleshoot rejected commands and unexpected rejoining
/admin is rejected
- Compare the password you entered with the value in the active
server_cfg.ini, including capitalization and punctuation. - Confirm that the server was restarted or reloaded after a password change.
- Check that you are using the command interface supported by the deployment; some hosts accept administration only through their panel.
- If you rely on
admins.txt, verify the SteamID entry and enable Steam authentication before testing again.
The kick or ban command is unknown
- Confirm that the server is running AssettoServer or another implementation that documents the command you entered.
- Try the documented alternative form, such as
/kick_idinstead of/kick, only when your implementation lists both. - Use the manager’s moderation controls if the host does not expose chat commands.
The wrong driver was removed
- Prefer the car ID over a similar player name when both are available.
- Recheck the live player list immediately before submitting the command; IDs can change as drivers leave and reconnect.
- Ask the driver to reconnect only after confirming that no ban or persistent blacklist was created accidentally.
The player returns after a ban
- Check whether you issued a normal kick rather than a ban.
- Inspect
BLACKLIST_MODEand determine whether the selected mode lasts only until restart. - For a persistent block, verify that the player’s entry exists in
blacklist.txtand that the running server has reloaded it. - Remember that a ban command’s persistence is implementation-specific; consult the active wrapper’s documentation before escalating.
A practical moderation workflow for race events
Using the same sequence every time reduces mistaken removals and makes decisions easier to audit.
Recommended Free Tools
- Define the rule. Identify the behavior that violates your published event rules, such as intentional collisions or chat abuse.
- Warn when appropriate. For a minor first incident, tell the driver what must change and note the warning.
- Authenticate early. Log in as administrator before the grid forms so you are not searching for a password during an incident.
- Verify identity. Match the report to the current car ID or accepted player name.
- Select duration. Use a normal kick for a reversible removal, a restart-duration block for the remainder of the session, or a persistent blacklist for a serious or repeated violation.
- State a concise reason. Use neutral wording such as
reckless drivingorchat abuse. - Confirm the result. Check the player list, server response, and—when persistence matters—the manager’s blacklist state.
- Review afterward. Record the command, time, identifier, and outcome so another moderator can make a consistent decision.
Command and setting reference
| Purpose | Documented syntax or setting | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Authenticate with a password | /admin <adminPassword> |
Password is configured in server_cfg.ini; the command must be supported by the running implementation. |
| Automatic administrator access | SteamID in admins.txt |
AssettoServer warns to enable Steam authentication because disabled authentication creates spoofing risk. |
| Kick | /kick <id> <reason> |
Reason is optional; normal kick behavior allows rejoining. |
| Alternate kick form | /kick_id <id> <reason> |
Use only if the implementation documents this command. |
| Ban | /ban <id> <reason> |
Persistence and identifier handling depend on the server implementation. |
| Alternate ban form | /ban_id <id> <reason> |
Use only if the implementation documents this command. |
| Restart-duration blacklist | BLACKLIST_MODE=1 |
Assetto Server Manager setting; blocks rejoining until the server restarts. |
| Persistent blacklist file | blacklist.txt |
In the manager’s persistent mode, removal requires deleting the relevant entry. |
What “ban by SteamID” means in this setup
SteamID appears in the documented AssettoServer workflow for automatic administrator access through admins.txt. The command syntax described for kicking and banning uses an <id> supplied by the server’s player list, specifically a car ID or player name in the AssettoServer command reference. Do not substitute a SteamID into a ban command unless your particular server wrapper explicitly documents SteamID bans and explains how they are stored.
Removing a persistent ban
If a manager has created a persistent blacklist entry, locate the corresponding entry in blacklist.txt, remove only the intended driver’s record, and reload or restart the server as required by that manager. Keep a moderation note explaining why the entry was removed. A restart-duration block does not require file editing; it expires when the server restarts.
