On a server you administer, use #players to find a connected player’s ID, then run #kick <playerId> to disconnect them. A kick is not a ban: the player may immediately rejoin. For a temporary or permanent ban on a dedicated server, use #ban create <playerId|identityId|1.2.0 playerName> <durationInSeconds> [reason]. Use an identityId when the target is no longer connected, and use duration 0 for a permanent ban.

What you need before using moderation commands
These commands only work for an authorized administrator. In the game console, authenticate with #login <password>, replacing the password with the server’s configured passwordAdmin. An administrator already listed in the server configuration can log in without supplying that password.

Remote Console (RCON) clients authenticate through the RCON credentials configured for the server. RCON access is still limited by the account’s assigned permissions and by any command whitelist or blacklist in the server configuration.
- Logged administrator: can use state-changing management commands after logging in.
- RCON administrator: can issue management commands remotely, subject to RCON permissions and command filters.
- Monitor account: can observe server activity but should not be treated as an account for kicks or bans.
If you do not administer the server, you cannot apply a community-server ban yourself. Use the server’s reporting or vote-kick facilities instead.

How to kick a connected player
1. Authenticate
Open the in-game administration console and run #login <password> if your account is not already listed as an administrator. With RCON, connect using the configured RCON authentication and an account permitted to run kick commands.
2. Find the player ID
Run:
#playersThe response lists connected players and their playerId values. Copy the ID belonging to the player you need to remove; do not substitute a name if you have the numeric ID available.

3. Issue the kick
#kick <playerId>For example, if #players reports player ID 123456789, run #kick 123456789. The command ejects that player from the server, but it does not create a ban. They can reconnect unless another control, such as a ban, prevents it.
How to ban a player on a dedicated server
The built-in ban command is documented for dedicated servers. It accepts a player ID, an identity ID, or the documented 1.2.0 playerName form, followed by a duration in seconds and an optional reason.
#ban create <playerId or identityId or 1.2.0 playerName> <durationInSeconds> <reason (optional)>Temporary ban
To ban the target for one hour (3,600 seconds):
#ban create 123456789 3600You can append a reason to make the action understandable to other administrators and easier to audit:

#ban create 123456789 3600 Repeated teamkillingThe duration is expressed in seconds. Convert the intended period before issuing the command: one hour is 3,600 seconds, one day is 86,400 seconds, and seven days is 604,800 seconds.

Use 0 as the duration for a ban that does not expire:
#ban create 123456789 0A reason can also be appended to a permanent ban. Record a concise, factual reason rather than an insult or a guess about the player’s identity.
When the player has disconnected
A current playerId identifies a connected session. If the player has already left, use the player’s identityId instead. This lets you create the ban without requiring the target to remain in the player list.
If you only have a name, use the documented name syntax carefully. Names can be duplicated or changed, so an identity ID is preferable whenever the server output provides one.

How to view and remove bans
List existing bans
Run:
#ban listYou can request a specific page, for example:
#ban list 2The official management reference states that an RCON client can display 25 bans per page, while the in-game interface displays 10 per page. If the ban you need is not visible, move through the pages rather than assuming it is absent.
Remove a ban
Use the ban’s identityId with:
#ban remove <identityId>Removing a ban allows that identity to join again, provided no other restriction applies. Confirm the identity ID from the ban list before removing it; a player name alone is not a safe substitute for a stored identity.

The built-in commands are the least ambiguous route on a supported dedicated server because their duration unit, identity handling and ban-list commands are defined by the game’s management interface. RCON changes where you operate, not what permission you have: a remote connection still needs an account allowed to execute the command.

Using RCON without joining the server
RCON is useful when you need to moderate from a control panel, terminal or separate administration tool. Enable it in the server configuration, create or assign an appropriate RCON permission level, and ensure the desired commands are not blocked by a command blacklist. A whitelist can be safer because it exposes only the commands your staff actually need.
- Enable RCON in the dedicated-server configuration.
- Set RCON authentication credentials and assign the account an administrator role that permits player management.
- Check command whitelist and blacklist settings; a correctly authenticated account can still be refused if the command is filtered.
- Connect with an RCON client using the configured host, port and credentials.
- Run
#players, copy the correct ID, and then issue#kickor#ban create. - Use
#ban listto verify that a ban was stored, or#ban removewhen reversing one.
Keep monitor credentials separate from administrator credentials. Monitoring is appropriate for staff who need to see activity but should not be able to disconnect or ban players.

The listing identifies game version 1.8.0.13. Check that the mod supports the server’s current Arma Reforger version before installing it. A mod can provide name-based commands or different duration units, but it also adds a compatibility and maintenance dependency that the built-in dedicated-server commands do not have.

Use a kick for an immediate, non-permanent removal
Kick when the immediate goal is to stop a disruption, clear a slot, or give a player a warning. Because the player can rejoin, a kick alone is not an effective response to persistent misconduct.
Use a temporary ban for a defined suspension
Choose a duration in seconds and include a reason. A temporary ban is appropriate when the server’s rules call for a suspension rather than a permanent exclusion.
Use a permanent ban only for conduct warranting indefinite exclusion
Use duration 0 and preserve the identity ID and reason in your moderation records. This makes later review possible if staff disagree or the player appeals.

Use an identity ID for reliable repeat enforcement
When available, an identity ID is more useful than a display name because names may change and can be shared by different accounts. For a connected target, obtain the player ID with #players; for a disconnected target, use the stored identity ID.
Troubleshooting failed commands
“Unknown command” or no response
- Confirm that you authenticated with
#login <password>or are listed as an administrator. - Check that you are issuing the command on a dedicated server when using the built-in ban syntax.
- Verify that RCON is enabled and that the command is permitted by the configured whitelist or blacklist.
- Do not use a mod’s command syntax unless that mod is installed and loaded on the server.
The kick command cannot find the target
- Run
#playersagain; the player may have disconnected or the session ID may have changed. - Copy the numeric
playerIdexactly, without surrounding punctuation. - If the player has left, use a ban by
identityIdrather than trying to kick an inactive session.
The ban is not visible
- Run
#ban listand check additional pages, such as#ban list 2. - Remember that the in-game view shows 10 bans per page while RCON can show 25.
- Confirm that the command completed successfully and that you used the intended identity ID.
The player returns after a kick
This is expected behavior. #kick disconnects but does not ban. Create a temporary or permanent ban if the player must be prevented from reconnecting.
Moderation when you are not the server administrator
Most community-server bans are issued by the administrators of the individual server. If you are a player without administrative access, use an in-game report, a vote kick where the server enables it, or the server operator’s published report channel. Include the player’s in-game name, server name, incident time, a factual description of the behavior and any available evidence.
Official-server incidents follow a different path: report them through the game’s in-game reporting tools or the publisher’s support process rather than attempting administrator commands. BattlEye bans are global across BattlEye-protected servers and are handled by BattlEye, not by an individual community-server administrator.
