To kill a Vox Engine quickly in Helldivers 2, destroy all three glowing heatsinks in either the upper or lower group, then throw a grenade into the hatch that opens. If you cannot safely get close enough to make that throw, focus ranged attacks on the lower chassis and vents instead of aiming at the head.
What is the Vox Engine’s weakness?
Its six glowing yellow heatsinks are the weak points: three sit on the upper rear torso and three are around the lower chassis and underside. Destroying all three in either group opens a hatch. Throw a grenade directly into that opening to destroy the vehicle. The mechanics are described in the Helldivers Wiki’s Vox Engine reference, a community-maintained source rather than official developer documentation.

The hatch method requires a throwable grenade. Firing an explosive projectile from an autocannon or grenade launcher does not substitute for throwing a grenade into the opening.
How to use the hatch kill
- Approach from a position where you can identify and hit a complete group of three glowing heatsinks: either the upper rear group or the lower group.
- Destroy all three heatsinks in that group. The hatch opens when the group is destroyed.
- Throw a grenade into the open hatch to finish the Vox Engine.
This is a high-payoff tactic, but it requires getting close enough to hit the vents and land the throw while under enemy pressure. If the approach is unsafe or the hatch is difficult to reach, switch to ranged damage against the lower chassis and vents.

Where to aim if you cannot reach the hatch
For conventional weapon damage, concentrate fire on the lower chassis and its vents rather than the head. A February 2026 tactical guide recommends the lower chassis; another February guide also points to the orange vents, especially underneath and on the lower rear. Those guides predate the June 2026 health change, and the available sources do not establish current weapon damage values or reliable shot counts. Treat lower-chassis and vent targeting as the supported aiming advice, not a promise that a particular weapon will kill the engine in a fixed number of hits.

Vox Engine health: current figure and older guides
The Helldivers Wiki lists the Vox Engine’s main health as 9,000 and records a reduction from 11,000 on June 16, 2026. These are in-game figures from a community-maintained reference. Older guides published in February may give different health or damage context; their figures should not be treated as current after that update.
