In original WoW Classic, learn Dual Wield from your class trainer: Rogues can learn it at level 10, while Hunters and Warriors can learn it at level 20. A weapon master teaches weapon-type skills, not the Dual Wield ability.
Dual Wield level requirements in original WoW Classic
| Class | Level listed | Where to learn it |
|---|---|---|
| Rogue | 10 | Class trainer |
| Hunter | 20 | Class trainer |
| Warrior | 20 | Class trainer |
These level thresholds come from a Classic-specific spell reference; Blizzard’s primer identifies the class trainer as the source for class abilities. The figures apply to original Classic. If you are playing another Classic mode or an expansion, check your in-game trainer because the available sources do not establish whether the same requirements apply.
How to train Dual Wield
- Check your class and make sure you have reached its listed level.
- Visit a trainer for your class and open the training window.
- Find Dual Wield in the ability list and select it to train. Blizzard’s manual explains that trainer listings show abilities and their level requirements: Blizzard manual.
- After learning the ability, equip an eligible one-handed weapon in your off hand.
If Dual Wield is not listed, confirm that you meet the level requirement and are speaking to a trainer for your class. Trainers are not available for every class in every city, according to Blizzard’s manual. An exact training cost is not established by the available sources.
Dual Wield is different from weapon skill
Dual Wield enables off-hand weapon use; it does not grant proficiency with every weapon type. Weapon skills are class-specific, and some available skills must be learned from a weapon master. Blizzard explains this distinction in its WoW Classic Primer for New Players: “Each class is able to become proficient in specific types of weapons, and you’ll need to visit a weapons master in your capital city to learn any weapon skills available that you didn’t start out with.”
