The factor category—Might, Shell, or Skeleton—determines the types of skills you can acquire. Fusion can improve stats and add combat abilities, but it also changes your Outer’s appearance; restoring a human appearance removes all skills gained through Fusion.
How to use Fusion to learn skills
- Defeat Immortals and collect their factors. Immortal Factors can be obtained from defeated enemies or found among Immortal remains, according to Marvelous Games’ system overview and its Fusion explainer.
- Go to the Lab. Fusion is performed there. The official overview does not specify an exact menu path, so follow the Lab’s current in-game prompts.
- Review the factor’s category and available skills. Check the factor descriptions and choices shown in-game before committing; the categories determine what kinds of skills are available, but the publisher does not publish a complete recipe or skill-unlock list.
- Fuse the factor with your Outer. This grants access to abilities, which can include stat improvements and combat skills. The official overview says accumulating factors lets you acquire more skills and expand your battle options.
What the three factor categories mean
The publisher identifies three Immortal Factor categories: Might, Shell, and Skeleton. Each opens access to different types of skills. The available official descriptions do not map every category to specific skills or explain exact combinations, so use the descriptions attached to your collected factors rather than relying on an assumed category chart.
Check whether a skill fits your build
Fusion can broaden your combat options, but the best choice depends on the ability offered and how it fits your loadout. In a September 2025 review, TechRadar reported that some unlocked abilities can be assigned to compatible weapon types. Treat that as review-based guidance, not a complete compatibility list: check the skill and weapon options in your current game before fusing or assigning an ability. TechRadar’s review
Understand Fusion’s appearance trade-off
Fusion alters your Outer’s body as it gains abilities. Marvelous Games says you can restore a human appearance, but doing so costs all newly acquired skills. The publisher does not state a specific fee in its Fusion explainer, so check the in-game confirmation before choosing restoration. Consider the appearance change and the skills you would lose before using Fusion repeatedly.
