Awakening, character rank and Recollection Bits are separate systems, not options in the skill-upgrade menu.
The mechanics and labels below are reported by third-party guides; menu wording and requirements may differ by client version or localization. Check the current in-game upgrade display before spending materials.
How to level up a character
- Open the character enhancement area and select the character you want to develop.
- Use Training Lights (修練の燈) to add experience. The Game8 leveling guide identifies these as the principal general-purpose leveling item and describes the Training Lights enhancement quest as a dedicated way to obtain them: Game8’s leveling guide.
- Check current event rewards as well as regular quests; events may also provide Training Lights.
Level increases core stats. If the character reaches its current level ceiling, more experience alone will not raise that ceiling; advance GRADE instead.
How to raise the level cap with GRADE
GRADE progression uses materials to unlock a character’s slots. After the required slots are unlocked, complete the current GRADE and advance to the next one; the GameWith guide reports that advancing GRADE raises the character’s level cap: GameWith’s GRADE guide.

- Measures approximately 6.9” tall
- Be sure to add her to your collection
- Check the GRADE screen to see which materials and slots are still required.
- Farm missing items. The guide points to the Cursed Object Collection quest as a source of required materials.
- Use the in-game material acquisition or “obtain” prompt, if available, to see quests that award a missing item.
- Unlock the required slots, complete the GRADE, then advance and return to leveling.
How to upgrade skills
- In character enhancement, select a character and open the skill-enhancement option.
- Choose an eligible command skill or ultimate skill and inspect its displayed next-level effect and cost.
- Spend the listed JP and Cursed Crystals (呪晶) to enhance it. The Game8 skill guide reports that command skills and the ultimate can be raised up to level 10, with rarer crystal types required at higher levels: Game8’s skill-enhancement guide.
That menu does not upgrade every ability. According to the same guide, auto-skills and linked ultimate attacks are not enhanced there; linked ultimate effects are tied to awakening stages, and latent unlocks may also influence abilities. Check the current client, since eligibility and labels can change.
Which upgrade should you prioritize?
There is no universally best order for every character or roster. Use the character’s level cap, role, team needs and your available JP and crystal types to choose where materials will matter most.

- A Good Smile Company import
- From the popular anime Jujutsu Kaisen
- Features Megumi Fushiguro in a strong standing pose
- Measures approximately 6.9” tall
- If the character is capped: prioritize the GRADE materials needed to raise its ceiling.
- If you need broad stat growth: raise character level with Training Lights, within the current cap.
- If a specific skill is central to the character’s job: consider its effect and next-level benefit before spending JP and crystals. GameWith’s skill-priority guide recommends considering useful support effects, including buffs or healing, and effective area attacks; that is situational advice, not a rule for every team: GameWith’s skill-priority guide.
- If resources are scarce: compare the benefit shown for the next skill level with the rising costs at higher levels. Early upgrades may be less demanding than maxing a skill, so avoid committing materials without checking the displayed cost.
Other character-development systems
Awakening, character rank and Recollection Bits are additional progression systems described in the Game8 overview. They can affect stats or combat effects, but they are distinct from character leveling, GRADE advancement and skill enhancement: Game8’s progression overview. Use each system’s own screen to review its materials and effects rather than assuming it raises a skill’s level.

The mechanics in these guides come from specialist third-party sources, not an official mechanics manual. An official English App Store listing and a Steam listing establish storefront availability, but do not document these upgrade rules. Because updates and localization can change names, caps, requirements or farming sources, rely on the current in-game display for the exact cost and available acquisition routes.
