You can limit personalized advertising and manage some of the data associated with your Microsoft account, but there is no verified universal Xbox setting that removes every dashboard promotion or stops all data collection needed to run and secure Xbox services. Use Microsoft’s ad settings, Xbox privacy controls and Privacy Dashboard for their separate purposes.
Turn off personalized ads for your Microsoft account
While signed in, open Microsoft’s personalized-ad settings and opt out of personalized advertising. Microsoft says the preference is saved to your account until you change it or delete the account. Microsoft also says opting out automatically opts you out of sharing data for those ads on third-party sites.
This changes how ads are personalized; it is not an ad blocker. It does not promise to remove every promotion shown on the Xbox dashboard.
Review Xbox privacy settings
Xbox privacy settings control aspects of your Xbox profile and privacy. Microsoft directs users to manage them on the console or at Xbox.com. The available guidance does not establish a single current console menu sequence, so follow the labels shown on your console or account rather than relying on a fixed path that may have changed.

These settings are distinct from Microsoft’s personalized-ad preference: changing one does not mean you have changed the other.
Check what you can see in the Privacy Dashboard
Use the Microsoft Privacy Dashboard to review or clear some account data and manage ad settings. It is not necessarily a complete ledger of Xbox activity: Microsoft says some data may not appear, depending on whether you were signed in, used the relevant feature, or live in a region where it is supported.

What data does Xbox collect?
Microsoft describes Xbox data categories that include game and app use, purchases, console and network performance, and social activity. Some data is needed to provide and secure Xbox services. Adjusting privacy controls or clearing data visible in the dashboard should not be understood as stopping all such service data collection.
Use family controls for a child’s account
A parent or guardian who is an organizer can manage a child’s Xbox profile privacy settings. Microsoft also offers the Xbox Family Settings app for child experience controls. The Xbox Transparency Report describes customizable parental controls and states that players can adjust privacy and safety settings, which apply across the ways they access Xbox. Access and deletion rights for a child’s data can vary by location.

Do not confuse Windows offers with Xbox ad controls
Microsoft’s Windows Personalized offers setting applies to ads, tips and recommendations in Windows. Microsoft says it does not affect offers shown in other Microsoft products. Changing that Windows setting is therefore not a way to remove Xbox console ads.
