To lock or change your camera in a Roblox experience, open the in-experience menu, select Settings, and turn on Shift Lock Switch if the option is available. Press Shift on your keyboard to toggle camera modes. This works only when the experience lets players change the camera mode; its developer can lock that setting.
Turn on Shift Lock in a Roblox experience

Join the Roblox experience.

Open the in-experience Roblox menu and select Settings.

Look for Shift Lock Switch. If the setting is available, turn it on.

Press Shift on your keyboard to toggle between camera modes.

Roblox describes Shift Lock Switch as a setting that lets players toggle camera modes with the Shift key. The setting and camera choices depend on whether the experience allows players to change the camera mode. Roblox Support: In-experience Settings and Help
What Classic and Follow camera modes do
| Mode or setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Classic | The camera stays in one spot unless you adjust it manually. With a mouse, hold the right mouse button and drag to change the viewpoint. |
| Follow | The camera rotates with your avatar as it moves right or left, helping keep your intended view in place. |
| Shift Lock Switch | Lets you toggle between camera modes by pressing Shift on a keyboard, when the experience permits camera-mode changes. |

Why Shift Lock may not be available
If you cannot find or enable Shift Lock Switch, the experience developer may have locked the camera mode. In that case, you may need to use the camera behavior provided by the experience. Roblox’s general Experience Controls guidance explains that controls and features can vary by experience; it does not provide a way to override a developer’s camera setting.

The Shift-key steps are for a keyboard. Roblox’s in-experience Help menu includes instructions for keyboard shortcuts, mouse controls, and mobile gestures. Open Help within the experience for controls specific to your device; Roblox’s camera-setting instructions do not establish that Shift Lock is supported on every mobile device.
