How to Look Up Specific Users on Roblox

Search for the person’s Roblox username, switch the results to People, then select the matching username to open their profile. Roblox’s People search requires at least three characters.

Find a Roblox user by username

1. Open Roblox and enter the username in the search field at the top of the screen. Roblox Support describes this route in its guide to making friends.

3. Compare the usernames in the results and select the one that matches the account you want. This opens that user’s profile.

If you know only a display name, try it as a search clue, then check the usernames shown in the results. Display names do not necessarily identify one unique account, so don’t rely on a display-name match alone. Search-field placement and labels can vary between the Roblox website and app.

If the person does not appear

• Check the spelling and make sure your search contains at least three characters.

• Compare similar-looking usernames carefully before opening a result.

• A missing result does not by itself establish that the account was deleted or hidden. Roblox’s search guidance does not identify every possible reason a user may not appear.

Find someone through contacts

If you do not know the username, Roblox offers optional contact discovery in the app. Go to Add Friends > Connect with Friends and connect your device contacts. Suggestions may include Roblox users in those contacts if those users have opted into discoverability. Roblox notes that some features described in its Contact Importer guidance may not be available to everyone.

For a user to be discoverable this way, they must verify a phone number and opt in. Roblox says people who have that user’s number saved may see the contact name, but not the phone number itself. The account holder can disable discoverability under Settings > Privacy.

For developers: Roblox user lookup APIs

Roblox Creator Hub documents a keyword-search endpoint, /v1/users/search, along with endpoints for retrieving users by username or ID. These are for developers building integrations, not necessary for finding a profile in Roblox. The documentation marks GET /v1/users/{userId} as “Not Recommended” and lists alternatives, so developers should consult the current users API documentation before choosing an endpoint.
