To make a classic T‑shirt on Roblox, create a square PNG or JPG image, then upload it through Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics → Upload Asset and choose Asset Type → T‑Shirt. As of July 14, 2026, uploading costs 80 Robux. Selling the item also requires account verification, 2-step verification, an active Roblox Plus or Premium subscription, and a separate 10 Robux publishing advance.
A classic T‑shirt is a 2D graphic shown on the front of a compatible blocky avatar’s torso. It is different from a classic Shirt, which uses a template and wraps around the torso and arms.

What you need
- A square image in
.pngor.jpgformat. Roblox’s documentation uses 512 × 512 pixels as an example. Roblox Support also lists.gifas an accepted upload format. - A design with its main artwork centered, since a classic T‑shirt appears on the front torso rather than wrapping around the avatar.
- A Roblox account that meets the current upload requirements: government ID verification or a linked parental account, plus 80 Robux for the upload.
Do not use the multi-panel Shirt/Pants template. That template is for classic Shirts and Pants, not classic T‑shirts. See Roblox’s classic clothing documentation for the clothing-type differences.

- Open an image editor or drawing app.
- Create a new square canvas. A 512 × 512 canvas is a practical documented example.
- Place the graphic, logo, text, or artwork near the center.
- Export the finished image as PNG or JPG. Check the exported file’s dimensions after saving; some editors can change the size by a pixel during export.
Keep important details away from the extreme edges and make text large enough to remain readable on a small avatar torso. A T‑shirt cannot place separate artwork on the back, sleeves, or arms.

Upload the classic T‑shirt
- Open the Roblox Creator Dashboard.
- Go to Avatar Items.
- Open the Classics tab.
- Drag your image into the upload box, or click Upload Asset.
- On the Upload Asset page, set Asset Type to T‑Shirt.
- Enter the item’s name and description.
- Click Upload.
Be careful not to choose a modern 3D clothing workflow. Roblox uses similar wording for classic 2D T‑shirts and modern layered clothing, but the correct path is Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics → Upload Asset → Asset Type → T‑Shirt.

The 10 Robux publishing advance is separate from the 80 Robux upload fee. Roblox describes the publishing advance as refundable through rebates from sales; the upload fee is generally not refunded when moderation rejects an item. Requirements and fees are documented in Roblox’s Marketplace fees and commissions and Marketplace policy pages.

Test the T‑shirt in Roblox Studio first
You can test the design in Studio without paying the Marketplace upload fee.
- Open Roblox Studio.
- Open the Avatar tab on the toolbar.
- Click Character, then choose a Block Avatar rig.
- In Explorer, hover over the generated Rig and click the ⊕ button.
- Insert
ShirtGraphic. - Select
ShirtGraphicunder the Rig. - In Properties, find Graphic.
- Click the property and select the image.

- Return to Creator Dashboard → Avatar Items → Classics.
- Use the Classic Type dropdown if necessary.
- Click the T‑shirt to open its Configure page.
- Review the item name and description.
- Enable On Sale and set a price if you want to sell it.
Uploading does not automatically put an item on sale. The asset must pass moderation, and the account must satisfy Roblox’s publishing requirements.

“Please use the template” or an image-size error
Confirm that the exported file is square, has the intended pixel dimensions, uses a supported format, and is being uploaded as Asset Type → T‑Shirt rather than Shirt or Pants. Roblox notes that editing or saving can shift an image’s dimensions slightly. If necessary, reopen the original project, set the canvas dimensions again, and export a fresh file. The design does not appear around the torso
That is normal for a classic T‑shirt. It displays on the front torso only. For artwork that covers the torso, back, or arms, create a classic Shirt with Roblox’s Shirt template instead.
The T‑shirt appears on some avatars but not others
Many user-generated Marketplace avatars do not support 2D classic clothing. Test with a compatible blocky avatar before treating missing artwork on a modern avatar as an upload failure.
The upload succeeds, but the item is not for sale
Upload and publishing are separate. Wait for moderation, open the item’s Configure page, enable On Sale, and check that the account has verification, 2-step verification, an active Plus or Premium subscription, and the required publishing advance.
