To make a Regeneration II Potion in ordinary vanilla Minecraft, brew Nether Wart into a water bottle, add a Ghast Tear to the resulting Awkward Potion, then add Glowstone Dust to the Potion of Regeneration. You’ll need a fueled Brewing Stand and Blaze Powder.
Ingredients and equipment
- Brewing Stand
- Blaze Powder to fuel the stand
- Glass Bottle filled with water
- Nether Wart
- Ghast Tear
- Glowstone Dust
Brewing steps
- Fuel the Brewing Stand. Place Blaze Powder in its fuel slot, then put the water-filled Glass Bottle in a bottle slot.
- Make an Awkward Potion. Add Nether Wart to the ingredient slot. The water bottle becomes an Awkward Potion, the base for this recipe. Minecraft’s official brewing guide describes it as the essential base for nearly every potion recipe.
- Add the Regeneration effect. Put the Awkward Potion in a bottle slot and brew a Ghast Tear into it. The result is a Potion of Regeneration.
- Upgrade it to Regeneration II. Brew Glowstone Dust into the Potion of Regeneration. This increases its potency to Regeneration II.
Why Glowstone Dust—not Redstone?
Glowstone Dust is the modifier for increasing potency. Redstone is a duration modifier, not the ingredient for upgrading this potion to Regeneration II. The official guide identifies the modifier roles but does not specify the exact duration of the resulting potion.
Recipe changes in datapack worlds
This is the ordinary vanilla brewing sequence. Datapacks can modify vanilla potion recipes or add new ones; Minecraft’s 26.3 Snapshot 3 notes describe potion recipes as data-driven. If the sequence does not work in a customized world, its datapacks may have changed the recipe.
