There is no verified, current one-click command for removing a newborn or Infant from a household in The Sims 4. What you can do depends on the child’s life stage and whether you want the Sim to live elsewhere, leave the active household, or be removed through social-services intervention.
First, identify the baby’s life stage
The Sims 4 distinguishes newborns from Infants. Infants arrived in a free base-game update, and newborns can age up into Infants. The controls and advice players discuss may differ by stage, so an Infant workaround should not be assumed to work for a newborn. EA’s Infant update explains the life-stage addition and aging transition.

What options are documented?

If you want an Infant to stay, but need to manage care
EA’s May 5, 2026 update says that disabling caregiver autonomy for Infants makes their care manual and warns: “Neglect can lead to social services intervention.” Turning autonomy off does not remove the Infant; it means care must be handled manually. Read EA’s May 5, 2026 update.
Social-services intervention should not be treated as a recommended way to remove a child. It follows neglect, and EA’s wording does not describe it as a player-controlled transfer or deletion feature.

If the Sim is a newborn
Current official guidance cited here does not provide a direct removal sequence for newborns. Community reports sometimes suggest aging the newborn into an Infant and then trying Create-a-Sim (CAS) or household controls, but that advice is anecdotal: the exact current menus and whether the approach works can vary. EA confirms newborns can age into Infants, but does not document those removal steps.
Removing or selling a bassinet is not proof that the Sim has left the household or been deleted from the save. The sources cited here do not establish that those actions are equivalent.

Household transfer is not the same as deletion
A child living with another household, a Sim leaving the active household, and a Sim being deleted from the save are different outcomes. The documented Will option covers Child Sims and a change in who cares for them; it should not be read as a newborn or Infant removal method. For newborns and Infants, the exact direct controls remain unverified.
