The reliable way to make an Origins SMP server is to pin every installation to Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.2, Fabric, Fabric API, and Origins 1.7.1, then copy that same combination to the server and every player’s client. You can build the stack yourself for maximum control or start from the 1.19.2 Origins SMP: Fabric pack, which includes creator-inspired presets such as Origins OG – V13.
Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
Get the server working locally before exposing it to friends. The essential test is simple: the Fabric server starts, the Origins selection screen appears, powers work as expected, and a second player can join with an identical client installation.

What you need for a 1.19.2 Origins server
An Origins SMP is not a normal vanilla server with a single optional add-on. Fabric loads the mod code, Fabric API supplies required hooks, Origins supplies the origin and power system, and any additional pack mods must be present in the same mod environment. The Origins project describes the mod as allowing each player to choose an origin that grants benefits and drawbacks.
| Component | Pin for this guide | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Minecraft | Java Edition 1.19.2 | Base game version shared by the server and all clients |
| Mod loader | Fabric for 1.19.2 | Starts and manages Fabric mods |
| Fabric API | Build matching 1.19.2 | Required support library for the Fabric installation |
| Origins | Origins 1.7.1 listed for Minecraft 1.19.2 | Adds origins, powers, benefits, and drawbacks |
| Optional curated pack | Origins SMP: Fabric 1.19.2 release, including Origins OG – V13 or another release you deliberately select | Provides a creator-SMP-style baseline and its associated mod set |
Do not substitute an Origins jar built for 1.19.3 or 1.19.4. Minecraft, Fabric Loader, Fabric API, Origins, and every selected pack mod form one compatibility set. A different game or loader version can prevent the server from starting or stop a client from joining.

Choose a hand-built stack or a curated pack
Decide this before installing anything. A hand-built server contains only the components you choose. The Origins SMP: Fabric project is a convenience baseline inspired by the creator Origins SMP; its project listings identify Origins OG – V13 and V6 as Fabric releases for 1.19.2. Whichever route you take, copy the complete matching set to both sides of the connection.
| Decision point | Hand-built installation | Origins SMP: Fabric pack |
|---|---|---|
| Starting point | Fabric server plus Fabric API, Origins 1.7.1, and only your selected additions | A listed 1.19.2 Fabric release such as Origins OG – V13 |
| Control | Highest control over which jars and datapacks are present | Convenient creator-style baseline with a larger predefined set |
| Updates | You audit each component and change one piece at a time | You keep the pack’s versions together and replace the full set when changing releases |
| Troubleshooting | Fewer moving parts when you keep the installation minimal | Faster initial setup, but every included mod must match on server and clients |
| Customization | Add datapacks and carefully selected mods as your rules develop | Begin with the pack’s rules, then add tested datapacks without mixing unrelated versions |
| Hosting control | Best when you manage the machine and files directly | Works on a host that permits the pack’s complete server-side file set |
Use the hand-built route when you want an auditable, minimal environment or intend to design your own origins. Use the pack when your group wants its predefined creator-SMP flavor and you are willing to preserve the pack’s complete version set.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Prepare the installation
- Install Minecraft Java Edition and verify that the launcher can run version 1.19.2.
- Choose a dedicated server directory with enough storage for the server files, mods, libraries, world, backups, and logs.
- Download the Fabric server installer for Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Download Fabric API for the same Minecraft/Fabric combination.
- Download the Origins 1.7.1 jar identified for Minecraft 1.19.2.
- If you are using a curated pack, record its exact 1.19.2 release and collect its complete matching server and client mod lists.
- Make a plain-text version manifest containing the Minecraft version, Fabric loader version, API file name, Origins file name, pack release, and any datapacks. Give the manifest to every player so nobody silently installs a different file.
The cited projects do not publish a universal player-capacity figure or a universal RAM requirement. Fabric’s documented launch example uses 2 GB, but that number is an example invocation rather than a measured Origins requirement. Treat memory, CPU, storage, and player count as deployment variables to monitor rather than promises made by the mod.
Build the Fabric server
1. Install Fabric for Minecraft 1.19.2
- Run the Fabric server installer and select Minecraft 1.19.2.
- Choose the server installation option and point it at the dedicated server directory.
- Allow the installer to create the Fabric server launcher and supporting files.
- Keep the launcher filename exactly as generated; the launch command must refer to that filename.
Do not place a client-only Fabric profile in the server directory. The server needs the Fabric server launcher and the server files generated by the installer.

2. Launch once and accept the EULA
Start the generated launcher once before adding mods. This first run creates the world settings, logs, server properties, and EULA file. Read the EULA file, set its acceptance value as required, and save it. Stop the server cleanly before editing the installation. Starting once first also reveals whether Fabric itself can launch before Origins is introduced.
3. Add the required server mods
- Create the server’s
modsdirectory if the installer did not create it. - Copy the 1.19.2 Fabric API jar into that directory.
- Copy Origins 1.7.1, the build listed for Minecraft 1.19.2, into the same directory.
- If you selected Origins SMP: Fabric, copy the pack’s complete, matching server-side mod set rather than picking isolated jars from several releases.
- Remove duplicate copies of the same mod. Two versions of one jar can create confusing startup failures.
Keep the downloaded files in a separate archive directory. That gives you a rollback copy while the live mods directory contains only the versions documented in your manifest.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems4. Start the server with Fabric
Fabric’s installation guide documents this launch pattern:
java -Xmx2G -jar <fabric server launcher jar file name> nogui
Replace the placeholder with the actual launcher filename generated in your directory. The -Xmx2G value is the guide’s example maximum heap setting, not an Origins specification. Change resource settings only when your host and workload justify doing so, and keep the command in a start script so every restart uses the same options.

Watch the console for a clean Fabric startup. If it stops before creating a world, read the first error and the lines immediately above it; a missing dependency, wrong Minecraft build, duplicate jar, or malformed configuration is more useful to fix than repeatedly restarting.
Install the same environment on every player’s client
Each player needs a Minecraft 1.19.2 client with the same Fabric loader, Fabric API, Origins version, and every additional mod required by the chosen pack. “Same” means the same game version and compatible file set, not merely a similar list of mod names.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Create a separate 1.19.2 Fabric profile or instance for the SMP so another Minecraft installation cannot overwrite it.
- Install the Fabric API build that matches the server’s pinned environment.
- Install Origins 1.7.1, the 1.19.2 build used by the server.
- If using the curated pack, install the pack’s complete client-side set at the same release. Preserve the server’s required server-only files separately if the pack distinguishes them.
- Launch the profile once and confirm that the game reaches the main menu without a loader error.
- Give the player the server address only after the local profile starts successfully.
A client missing a required mod or using another Minecraft or Fabric version will not match the server’s mod environment. Keep a copy of the manifest beside the client instance and ask players to compare filenames when connection errors appear.
Test the world before inviting the group
Run a local connection test
- Start the Fabric server and wait for its ready message.
- Launch the matching client profile on the same machine or local network.
- Connect using the server address appropriate to that local test.
- Confirm that the Origins selection screen appears when the player enters the world.
- Select an origin and inspect its listed powers, benefits, and drawbacks.
- Join with a second matching client before giving the address to the wider group.
This sequence separates mod problems from network problems. If the selection screen never appears, stay in the local test and inspect the server and client logs. If it appears locally but a remote player cannot connect, the installation is probably loading and the next investigation is the host address, firewall, port, or host configuration rather than the Origins jar.

Record a known-good baseline
- Save the exact mod filenames and versions that passed the two-player test.
- Back up the world directory while the server is stopped.
- Keep the server’s launch script,
server.properties, and version manifest together. - Write down which origins are allowed by your group rules; the mod can offer choices, but your SMP may intentionally restrict them.
Customize origins with datapacks
Origins supports datapack-based additions and power configuration. This lets you add origins or change how powers behave without replacing the core Origins jar. The documentation establishes the mechanism, but each datapack can have its own compatibility requirements, so test one change at a time.
Add a datapack safely
- Stop the server and make a fresh backup of the world.
- Place the tested datapack in that world’s datapack location, preserving the pack’s directory structure.
- Start the server and use the datapack’s documented reload or restart procedure. Restarting is the conservative choice when a pack does not clearly state that a live reload is supported.
- Check the server log for load errors.
- Join with a test account, open the Origins selection or power interface, and verify the changed origin or power.
- Document the datapack name, version, installation date, and allowed origins in the server manifest.
Do not edit a live world’s datapacks without a backup. A datapack can change player abilities, recipes, tags, or progression in ways that are difficult to undo after players have built around them.
Set community rules separately from technical settings
Decide whether players may choose every installed origin, whether duplicate origins are allowed, and what happens when a datapack is removed. Put those decisions in your server rules rather than relying on an undocumented assumption. If you change the allowed list, announce the change before players make permanent builds around a power.

Files to transfer or verify
fabric-server-launcher.jar(use the actual generated filename if it differs)- The server jar and the generated server files
- The complete
librariesfolder and its contents server.propertiesand the accepted EULA file- The server’s
modsdirectory, including Fabric API, Origins 1.7.1, and the selected pack files - The world directory, if you are moving an existing tested world
- Your launch script and version manifest
Remote cutover procedure
- Stop any old instance and make a downloadable backup of its world.
- Upload the Fabric launcher, server files, libraries, configuration, and exact mod set.
- Set the host’s startup command to the Fabric launch pattern, using the real launcher filename and an approved memory setting.
- Start the instance without players connected and inspect the complete console output.
- Connect from one matching client, test origin selection, then connect from a second client.
- Only after those checks pass, invite the rest of the group and publish the address through your private community channel.
Some hosts use a control panel rather than a shell. In that case, the panel’s startup field still needs to launch the Fabric server, not a vanilla server jar. If the panel automatically replaces files during an update, disable that behavior or make sure it preserves your pinned 1.19.2 stack.
Troubleshoot by symptom
The server exits immediately
- Confirm that the launcher command names the generated Fabric launcher, not a client jar.
- Check that the server is running Minecraft 1.19.2 and that the Origins file is the 1.19.2 build.
- Look for a missing Fabric API dependency and verify that its jar is in the server’s
modsdirectory. - Remove duplicate or accidentally newer mod jars, then restart from the known-good manifest.
- If the log points to a datapack, temporarily remove that datapack from the world’s datapack location, restore the backup if necessary, and test the base stack again.
A player is rejected while joining
- Compare the player’s Minecraft version with 1.19.2.
- Compare the Fabric loader and Fabric API builds with the server manifest.
- Compare the Origins jar and every pack mod by filename and version.
- Ensure the player is launching the intended Fabric profile rather than vanilla or another modpack instance.
- Ask for the exact client error and the server log entry at the same timestamp; the pair usually identifies the mismatched component.
The Origins selection screen or powers are missing
- Confirm Origins is present on both server and client and was not placed in a disabled or wrong directory.
- Check that the player actually entered the modded world with the pinned profile.
- Review datapack changes made since the last successful test.
- Restore the last known-good world backup if a datapack or configuration change altered origin data.
The server works locally but not for remote players
- Repeat the local two-client test to verify that the mod environment still loads.
- Check the remote host’s address, firewall, port, and startup panel.
- Verify that the host has the launcher, server files, libraries, mods, and world files rather than only the world folder.
- Have one remote player test before changing mods; network failures do not justify replacing a working version set.
Maintain the SMP without breaking compatibility
Freeze before updates
Do not update Minecraft, Fabric, Origins, or a pack mod independently on a live world. Stop the server, back up the world, copy the current manifest, and test the proposed stack in a separate directory. Only replace the production files after a local two-player test passes.
Use complete pack releases
If you use Origins SMP: Fabric, treat a release such as Origins OG – V13 as a unit. The project metadata identifies the pack as a 1.19.2 Fabric project and records an update on March 22, 2025; that date describes the project listing, not a promise that every included jar is current for another Minecraft version. Keep the release’s files together and do not combine one release’s Origins jar with another release’s miscellaneous mods unless you have tested the result.
Back up before content changes
- Stop the server before copying a world backup.
- Keep at least one backup from before each datapack or origin-rule change.
- Label backups with the Minecraft version, pack or hand-built manifest, and date.
- Test that a backup can be copied to a separate directory and opened before assuming it is restorable.
What the version choice means
Minecraft 1.19.2 is the compatibility target for this guide. Origins 1.7.1 is the listed Origins build for that game version, while the Origins SMP: Fabric project lists its own 1.19.2 releases. Newer Minecraft or Origins files may be valid in another installation, but they are not interchangeable with this pinned server merely because their names look similar. If your group wants to move versions later, treat it as a planned migration: inventory every mod and datapack, make a separate test copy, and have every player update the client before the live cutover.
