Set Genshin Impact to Borderless
- Open the in-game Settings.
- Choose Graphics.
- Find Display Mode and select Borderless.
This is the documented in-game path for choosing borderless windowed mode. The cited settings reference is not an official HoYoverse source, so the exact current menu wording is not independently confirmed by HoYoverse here.
Which Display Mode should you choose?

| Fullscreen | Choose this if you want the game’s Fullscreen option instead. |
| Windowed | Choose this if you want the game in a regular window. |
The settings reference identifies these three options but does not establish detailed differences in latency, performance, HDR support, or how Genshin implements Fullscreen.
Optional: Windows 11 windowed-game optimization
Windows 11 has a separate setting called Optimizations for windowed games for compatible DirectX 10 and DirectX 11 games running in windowed or borderless-windowed modes. It is not required to enable Borderless in Genshin.

- Open Settings > System > Display > Graphics.
- Find Optimizations for windowed games and change the setting if you want to use it.
- Restart the game after changing it, as Microsoft directs.

If the game still minimizes when you switch screens
First check Genshin’s current Settings > Graphics > Display Mode selection and choose Borderless if that is your goal. An older HoYoLAB community post dated November 29, 2020, described a dual-screen user whose game disappeared when they clicked the second screen and suggested adding -screen-fullscreen 0 -popupwindow to a shortcut. That advice reflected the menu options described at the time; it is historical, community-sourced, and not verified for current game builds. See the 2020 HoYoLAB shortcut post. The in-game Borderless option is the better place to start.

Do not confuse launcher scaling with game display mode
HoYoverse’s High DPI compatibility instructions address launcher pages that do not display fully, using the desktop icon’s Compatibility > Change High DPI Settings controls. They are not a fix for the game’s fullscreen or borderless mode. See HoYoverse’s PC FAQ.
For general PC compatibility context, HoYoverse’s system-requirements page, updated November 11, 2025, lists Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum PC operating system and Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11 64-bit as recommended. Those requirements do not establish a special requirement for Borderless mode: Genshin Impact system requirements.
