For a better gem sale, take a bulk load to Ramella in Eldin. Snowball bowling in Hebra is another activity to consider, though Nintendo’s available guide information does not establish its entry cost, payout or whether it is faster than selling materials.
Sell gems and surplus materials for a practical cash boost
Nintendo’s Breath of the Wild Adventure Guide advises that shops buy gems and various materials for rupees. It says gems can be found in breakable rocks and treasure chests, and by defeating Stone Talus. That makes gathered valuables a straightforward way to turn exploration and combat into money.
Before selling, consider whether an item may be useful later. Some gems and monster materials have other uses, so avoid clearing out your entire inventory just to raise your balance. Sell surplus first, and keep materials you expect to need.
Gather valuables as you explore
- Break ore deposits you encounter and collect the gems.
- Check treasure chests during your travels.
- Defeat a Stone Talus if you are equipped and prepared for the fight; Nintendo identifies them as a source of gems.
- Sell gathered valuables at a shop when convenient, keeping a reserve of materials you may want for other purposes.
Take gems to Ramella for bulk sales
If you have a stockpile of gems, consider selling them to Ramella in Eldin. Nintendo’s Eldin region guide says she pays more than the usual price when buying gems in bulk. The guide does not state a quantity threshold or price schedule, so the exact benefit depends on the gems you bring and cannot be calculated from that information alone.

- Discover Hyrule as never before: by making your own path, choices, and consequences
- Ingenuity is the key to survival: find multiple solutions to tons of dynamic puzzles
- Surprises hide around every corner: scavenge weapons, armor, plants, animals, and more
- Live off the land: find weapons and armor, cook food, and brew elixirs
- Utilize special technology: the in-game Sheikah Slate controls, objects and enemies in fun ways
This route makes most sense when you already have several gems and are willing to travel to Eldin. If you are short on cash and far away, selling a few valuables to a nearby shop may be more practical than making a special trip.
Consider snowball bowling in Hebra
Nintendo’s Hebra region guide features snowball bowling as an activity. It is an alternative to selling materials, particularly if you are already exploring Hebra and want to try a minigame.

| Route | What is established | Practical considerations |
|---|---|---|
| Sell gems and materials | Nintendo says shops buy gems and various materials for rupees. | Convenient when you have valuables to spare; account for other uses before selling. |
| Bulk-sell gems to Ramella | Nintendo says Ramella in Eldin pays more than the usual price for bulk gem sales; no threshold or price schedule is stated. | Worth considering if you already have multiple gems and are near Eldin; factor in travel if you are not. |
| Snowball bowling | Nintendo identifies it as an activity in Hebra; no entry cost or payout is stated. | Consider it when you are in the region, but check the in-game terms rather than assuming a return. |
There is no official rupees-per-hour comparison in these sources, so a universal fastest route cannot be established. In practice, weigh how far you must travel, whether you are ready for any combat involved, whether the activity or resource is available to repeat, and the value of keeping materials for later. The game’s Nintendo Switch store listing describes hunting and gathering as gameplay activities; no additional product is required to use these in-game options.
