A September 2025 guide reports that you gently press the right stick down and hold it to maintain the manual. Because that input has not been confirmed in EA’s current-build documentation, check the manual entry in the in-game Skatepedia for your control preset before practicing.
How to do a manual in skate.
- Pause the game and open Skatepedia. Find the manual entry and check its input for your selected control preset. EA identifies Skatepedia as the place to look up trick inputs.
- Move to a broad, flat area and slow down or come to a stop. These are the practice conditions recommended by Destructoid’s September 18, 2025 guide.
- Gently press the right stick down, then hold it to sustain the manual. The dated guide describes a light input, not a forceful full flick; use the in-game entry if your current version or preset shows a different gesture.
- Practice the manual on its own until you can balance it, then try linking it after an ollie or flip trick.
For a manual after a flip trick, the same 2025 guide recommends easing the right stick slightly downward as the skater comes down. Treat that as a starting technique rather than a guaranteed current-build input.
Why the right stick matters
EA describes skate. as using Flick-It controls: the left stick steers, while the right stick handles flip tricks and board adjustments. Manuals fit that right-stick control context, but EA’s published control guidance directs players to Skatepedia for the specific trick input rather than spelling out a manual gesture.
Choose a control preset that suits you
EA lists three control presets. The labels describe their intended audience and flexibility, not a guarantee that one preset makes manuals easier.

| Preset | Best fit | What to expect |
|---|---|---|

| Classic | Players familiar with earlier Skate games | Uses a style intended to feel familiar to returning players. |
| Experienced | Players seeking more control | Offers more customization. |
If you are new, start with Streamlined, then adjust control preferences or try Classic as you get comfortable with the stick gestures. EA also documents adjustable Flick-It sensitivity. If a manual input does not seem to register, check your selected preset and settings, then consult Skatepedia again.
What PC players need
EA’s accessibility resource says a controller is required for gameplay on PC as well as consoles; it describes the US English PC and console versions. If you play on PC and do not already have a compatible controller, you will need one, but EA does not designate a particular model as mandatory.

Use the Skatepedia in your installed game for the input that matches your current build and preset.
