To max out a Midas’ Sword in Hypixel SkyBlock, first decide what “max” means for your goal: its coin-based Greed bonus, its higher price ceiling, or its dungeon and general weapon upgrades. The item-specific figures below come from community-wiki pages accessed in 2026; check the in-game requirements and costs before spending, since patches can change them.
What “maxing” the Midas’ Sword means
The sword has separate upgrade tracks rather than one final, universally optimal build. Paying more can increase its Greed bonus; Golden Fragments raise the price ceiling; dungeon conversion and stars prepare it for Catacombs use; and reforges, enchantments, and other weapon upgrades depend on your build.

Max the coin-based Greed bonus
The Midas’ Sword is a Legendary weapon obtained from the Dark Auction. Its Greed ability scales with the amount paid. The item page lists Combat 20 as the combat requirement and says the base sword reaches its maximum bonus when purchased for 50,000,000 coins or more: +120 Damage and +120 Strength. Raise the price ceiling with Golden Fragments
Combining the sword with eight Golden Fragments adds the ⚚ marker and raises its price ceiling to 250,000,000 coins. The item page lists a maximum Damage bonus of 225 for this upgraded version. This is a different goal from merely reaching the base sword’s 50 million coin Greed cap; confirm the current recipe and displayed values in-game before committing materials. Convert it for Catacombs use and add stars
Dungeonizing the sword costs 100 Gold Essence. The five listed star costs are 25, 50, 75, 125, and 200 Gold Essence. Together, conversion and all five stars require 575 Gold Essence, plus 35,000 coins in the listed coin charges. The item page lists Catacombs 17 to use it as a dungeon item; check the current game menu for the exact requirement and costs before upgrading. Dungeon item level also affects stats: the official, Hypixel-led community wiki describes a +2% stat increase outside Dungeons and +10% in Dungeons. Hypixel SkyBlock Wiki: Upgrading Weapons.

Apply the Midas-specific Gilded reforge
A Midas Jewel applies the Gilded reforge specifically to Midas Swords and Midas Staffs. The item page says the jewel drops from King Midas in the Catacombs and lists Mining 25 and an application cost of 5–10 million coins. Check the current in-game application cost before proceeding. Upgrade in a practical order
- Obtain the sword from the Dark Auction and meet its listed Combat 20 requirement.
- For the base Greed bonus, target a paid price of at least 50,000,000 coins; pursue the Golden Fragment upgrade only if you want the higher ceiling.
- If you intend to use it in Catacombs, confirm the Catacombs 17 requirement and budget the 575 Gold Essence and 35,000 listed coin charges for conversion and five stars.
- Apply Gilded with a Midas Jewel if it fits your build and you meet the listed Mining 25 requirement.
- Finish with the general weapon upgrades that suit your intended activity.
