Move an eligible Xbox game with the Xbox app
Use the Xbox app’s own management controls when they offer a move option. Xbox Wire described this feature in a 2021 announcement, so labels may have changed since then and not every game is necessarily supported.

Open the Xbox app and find the installed game in your library.

Open the game’s Manage controls. Xbox Wire’s published instructions say to right-click the game and select Manage.

If the game’s available options include moving it, choose the destination drive and start the move.

Wait until the move finishes. Then check that the game still appears in the library and try launching it.
Xbox Wire introduced moving and repairing games through Manage; support can differ by game and app state. Check the options for the specific title rather than assuming a move is available. Read Xbox Wire’s announcement.

What to do with Battle.net games
The current Battle.net relocation steps could not be confirmed from readable Blizzard guidance. A Blizzard support result associated with article 000167168 led to a login-gated page, so there is no verified sequence or current control label to give here.
Check the installed Battle.net client’s settings for the specific game, or consult accessible Blizzard support instructions. Follow only the options shown for that game; do not reuse the Xbox app’s Manage workflow as if the launchers worked the same way.
Choose a destination drive and check the result
An internal secondary drive is one option to consider if your PC has one. An external drive may also be usable, but Xbox Wire cautions: “You may experience issues launching games installed on an external drive.” That is a possibility, not a claim that all external drives or games fail. If you move an Xbox game to an external drive, keep it connected and test the game afterward.

The cited guidance does not establish a required drive interface, minimum speed, filesystem, or universal compatibility guarantee. Capacity, performance for loading and updates, and whether the drive will remain attached are practical considerations, not stated Xbox requirements.
If the game is missing or will not launch

If the move option is absent, check whether it is offered for that specific game in the launcher. Xbox app support can vary by title.

If a moved Xbox game does not launch, use the repair or support option available in the app rather than manually changing protected installation folders.

If a moved game or app cannot be found on the PC, Microsoft Support points users to Microsoft Store on the PC to see what they own. This is a way to check owned content, not a general method for moving every Xbox app installation. See Microsoft’s guidance on finding games and apps.
