In Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 1, the Nightshift Forest vault sequence was: find a Sprite, show it to Bushranger, take the key to the vault entrance beneath the main temple, and unlock the door. This is a season-specific walkthrough based on guides from December 2024; those guides do not confirm that the vault or its mechanics are available in Fortnite’s live game on October 8, 2026.
How to get the Nightshift Forest vault key
- Find a Sprite. Sprites could be found around the island. If you had trouble locating one, a Sprite Shrine could reveal nearby Sprites, according to a December 2024 guide from Shacknews.
- Look for Bushranger in Nightshift Forest. December 2024 guides described Bushranger as a nighttime character and reported possible Tanuki Statue locations. These details are specific to Chapter 6, Season 1: check the Characters menu or the match itself if you are trying this in a version where the NPC may appear. See Gfinity and Siliconera.
- Show Bushranger the Sprite. Interact with Bushranger while carrying the Sprite and select “Show Item.” The guides say this interaction awards the vault key.
- Return to the vault entrance and use the key. Look for stairs descending near the main temple, then use the key at the vault door. The temple-and-stairs landmark is more dependable than compass directions: December 2024 guides differed on which direction to follow. See Game8 and Beebom.
Where to look for the vault
Use the main temple as your landmark and search nearby for stairs leading underground. Guides agree on that general approach but conflict on compass direction, so do not rely on a single north/south/east/west instruction. The entrance is the vault door at the bottom of the stairs.

What was inside the vault
Chapter 6, Season 1 walkthroughs reported chests and loot such as weapons, ammunition, healing items, and a Typhoon Blade. These are reported examples, not a guaranteed reward list, and the guides do not establish the current loot pool.
Does this still work in Fortnite?
The steps above describe the Chapter 6, Season 1 mechanic documented in December 2024. The cited guides do not verify whether Nightshift Forest, Bushranger, or this vault interaction remains available in the live game as of October 8, 2026. If you encounter the location in a current match, use the in-game UI to check whether the NPC and interaction are present.
