To permanently remove Roblox from your computer, uninstall the app, delete any remaining local Roblox folder, and empty the Recycle Bin or Trash. This removes Roblox from the computer but does not delete your Roblox account, Robux, friends, inventory, or progress.
Before you uninstall Roblox
- Close Roblox and Roblox Studio.
- Back up important Roblox Studio projects, especially
.rbxlfiles stored in Documents, Desktop, Downloads, or a custom folder. - Decide whether you want to remove only the computer installation or also clear browser data. These are separate tasks.
How to delete Roblox on Windows 10 or 11
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Search for Roblox.
- Select the More (…) > Uninstall option and follow the prompts. This is Microsoft’s current removal path for Windows 10 and Windows 11. See Microsoft’s uninstall instructions.
- Search Installed apps again for Roblox – Windows. Some PCs have this Microsoft Store version as well as another Roblox entry. Uninstall every Roblox installation you no longer want.
- Press Windows key-R, enter
%LOCALAPPDATA%, and press Enter. - If it remains, right-click the Roblox folder and choose Delete. This is the same location as
C:Users<username>AppDataLocalRoblox. - Empty the Recycle Bin if the local files must be removed immediately.
Deleting the local folder removes cached and residual files. Roblox says it should not remove Studio places unless you manually saved them inside that folder, but backing up important projects first is still the safest approach. The folder-removal guidance is covered in Roblox’s official uninstall instructions.

If Roblox is not listed in Settings
Try the older Windows uninstall interface: Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Select Roblox and choose Uninstall. Some programs appear there even when they are unavailable in Settings.
If Roblox is absent from both lists, restart Windows and check %LOCALAPPDATA% for the Roblox folder. If the uninstaller is damaged, Roblox recommends reinstalling the software and then uninstalling it normally; reinstalling can restore missing uninstall files. Do not use registry cleaners or delete random registry entries.

Advanced Windows cleanup
File Explorer is safer for most people. Advanced users can use Roblox’s Command Prompt example after uninstalling:
cd AppDataLocal
rmdir /s RobloxWarning: rmdir /s recursively deletes the Roblox folder. Confirm that Command Prompt is in your own user folder and that the folder name is exactly Roblox before proceeding. File Explorer is the recommended method for general users.

How to delete Roblox on a Mac
- Close Roblox and Roblox Studio. If either will not close, press Command-Option-Escape, select the program, and choose Force Quit.
- Open Finder > Applications.
- Drag Roblox to the Trash. If installed, drag Roblox Studio to the Trash as well.
- Empty the Trash.
For most users, removing the applications from Applications and emptying the Trash is sufficient. Roblox’s official Mac uninstall guidance uses this process.

~/Library/Preferences/
~/Library/Logs/Roblox/In ~/Library/Preferences/, delete only files clearly associated with Roblox, such as Roblox .com preference files. You can delete Roblox logs from the Roblox Logs folder. Do not delete the entire Preferences folder or unrelated files in ~/Library. See Roblox’s Mac troubleshooting instructions.
When Roblox will not uninstall
Roblox says it is still running
Close Roblox, Roblox Studio, and Roblox browser tabs. Open Task Manager with Ctrl-Shift-Escape and end an obviously active Roblox process if necessary. Try again, or restart the computer and uninstall before opening Roblox or a browser.

The Roblox folder cannot be deleted
Restart and try again before launching Roblox. A browser, updater, antivirus program, or damaged installation may be holding a file open. Security software can interfere with Roblox files, but do not disable protection casually. If the problem continues, use the operating system’s uninstall troubleshooting options or ask an administrator to remove the folder.

Roblox keeps coming back
Uninstalling does not prevent a later reinstall. Opening a Roblox experience on Roblox.com may prompt the app to be installed again, and another Windows user account may have its own installation. Check for both Roblox and Roblox – Windows before concluding that every local installation is gone.

Optional: remove Roblox browser data
Uninstalling the desktop application does not sign you out of Roblox.com or delete browser cookies, history, saved passwords, shortcuts, or launch handlers. Clear Roblox cookies or site data in Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox only if you also want to remove saved website sessions. Browser cleanup is not required to uninstall the app.
If your goal is to stop a child from accessing Roblox, uninstalling alone is not sufficient. Use appropriate operating-system, family-safety, browser, router, or account-permission controls as well.
Does uninstalling Roblox delete the account?
No. Removing Roblox from Windows or macOS affects the local application and files only. Your account data, Robux, inventory, friends, and game progress remain associated with the Roblox account, and you can sign in again after reinstalling.
Account deactivation or deletion is a separate Roblox privacy process. For those requests, follow the current instructions in Roblox’s account deactivation and deletion guide. Do not expect uninstalling the app to erase Roblox-held account data.
Final verification checklist
Windows
- Roblox no longer appears in Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- It no longer appears in Control Panel > Programs and Features.
%LOCALAPPDATA%Robloxis gone.- The Recycle Bin is empty if permanent local deletion was intended.
- Unwanted Roblox shortcuts are removed.
Mac
- Roblox is gone from Applications.
- Roblox Studio is gone if you removed it too.
- The Trash is empty.
- Roblox-specific preference and log files have been removed only if deeper cleanup was needed.
These steps permanently remove the identifiable Roblox installation and local files from the computer. They do not erase browser records, backups, cloud data, or the Roblox account unless you handle those separately.
