You do not need photo mode, a camera item, or a manual screenshot. Afterward, travel to Broken Earth, follow the destruction trail uphill toward Ridgeline, and investigate the unknown ARC machine.
Where to take the collapsed-highway photo
Queue for The Blue Gate and head to Highway Collapse, in the map’s southern to southwestern area. The photo prompt is around the broken span, not at one reliably fixed coordinate. Guides describe searching the west side, north of the map marker, including near a tree and rock and around rubble where concrete reaches ground level. There may be more than one valid interaction spot nearby, so sweep the wreckage for the yellow prompt rather than stopping at a single point. Use the in-game interaction
When the yellow Take Photo prompt appears, interact with it. This is a designated quest interaction; you do not need to open photo mode, press a camera key, take a screenshot, or equip a camera. The quest guides also do not require the binoculars listed as a granted item. All Things How and GameSpot describe the prompt-based action.
How to finish Reduced to Rubble
The quest follows “A First Foothold” and is given by Shani. Complete its objectives in this order:

- Go to Broken Earth: Once the photo objective updates, head northeast from the highway toward Broken Earth. Into Indie Games places Broken Earth northeast of the highway.
- Follow the trail of destruction: Continue through Broken Earth, following the destruction uphill toward Ridgeline.
- Investigate the unknown ARC machines: Look for the machine near a large scrap-metal ring, east of Maintenance Bunker, and interact with it to complete the quest. PC Gamer describes this final location and interaction.
Quest rewards and Shani’s reaction
The ARC Raiders Wiki lists one Zipline, three Barricade Kits, and three Door Blockers as quest rewards, and binoculars as a granted item. It also records Shani’s completion dialogue: “Hold on, you’re saying it was downed, but free of bullet holes? And it stripped entire forests?”
