The right access route depends on whether you mean REDSEC, a live-game Labs feature, or a separate EA Playtesting session.
Start with REDSEC to play Battle Royale
EA describes REDSEC as a free-to-play experience that players can enter without buying the Battlefield 6 base game. Its October 28, 2025 launch announcement listed Battle Royale, Gauntlet, and Portal as REDSEC options. EA’s REDSEC launch announcement

At launch, Battlefield Studios described Battle Royale as “100 per match – 25 squads of 4 or 50 duos.” That is a launch-format figure from 2025, not a guarantee that every current playlist uses those team sizes. Check the current in-game playlist for the format available to you.
What “Battlefield Labs” can mean
“Labs” can refer to two different access routes: an experimental feature placed in the live game, or a separate EA Playtesting session that requires selection and an invitation. A Labs label alone does not tell you that you need to apply; check where the feature appears and what EA says about its access.

Was the Battle Royale Solos Labs test open to everyone?
Yes, for that specific test. Battlefield Studios said its Battle Royale Solos test would run in a new Battlefield Labs section inside the live game during the weekend of March 6–9, 2026, and be “available to all players.” EA described it as experimental and subject to change, and said discussion and streaming were allowed without an NDA. That test window has passed; it is not an ongoing invitation to play that test. EA’s June 5, 2026 update said Solos returned with changes informed by the live Labs test. To see whether a Solo playlist is available now, check the game and EA’s update notes.

How to apply for a separate Battlefield Labs playtest
- Sign in to EA’s Playtesting Portal with your EA Account.
- Make sure your EA Account details are up to date and that it is linked to your platform account.
- Sign up for Battlefield Labs and accept the playtesting terms.
- Wait for an invitation. EA says selected players receive an email from [email protected] and a link to the official Battlefield Discord with setup details. Signing up does not guarantee an invitation.
EA Help currently lists the EA app, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for Labs. It describes initial selection as covering Europe and North America, with Asia-Pacific expansion planned. Eligibility and session availability can change, so consult the current EA Help instructions before applying.
EA’s older Battlefield FAQ also describes separate playtests as invite-only and mentions PlayStation Plus for PS5 and Game Pass Core for Xbox. Because that FAQ is older, confirm any subscription requirement and regional rules in EA’s current instructions rather than treating the older details as guaranteed current terms.

How to check what is playable now
- For regular Battle Royale, open REDSEC and inspect the current playlists; the launch lineup and format are not a promise of what every playlist offers today.
- For a Labs feature shown in the live game, read the in-game description and EA announcement for its dates and access conditions.
- For a separate playtest, use EA’s Playtesting Portal and wait for an official invitation.
