How do you pick up the ball?
Move into the loose ball while you are not in the middle of an attack. The mode reference says you cannot pick it up during an attack. Once you have possession, you can carry it or use the mode’s ball attacks to move it forward. These detailed rules come from the Marvel Rivals Wiki mode reference, not the official patch notes.

How does scoring work?
Carry the ball into a goal to score. Entering through a side section is worth one point; entering through the center is worth three. You cannot score by simply throwing the ball into the goal: a player must enter while carrying it.

How do you move or pass the ball?
Use Lion’s Launch or Ferocious Throw to send the ball forward. Ferocious Throw can be charged for more speed and distance. Either move can pass the ball to a teammate, but opponents can intercept it. Pass when a teammate has room and a clearer route; carrying keeps the ball under your control but leaves you responsible for advancing it.
How do you defend against the carrier?
Use damaging abilities to pressure the opponent carrying the ball and make them drop it. Attacks do not eliminate opponents in this mode. You can also guard a route to the goal, particularly when the carrier is approaching a scoring lane. These are tactical implications of the documented rules, not guaranteed strategies.

Which heroes can you play?
The mode reference lists Black Widow, Iron Fist, and Star-Lord, with their event costumes equipped. The official Version 20250122 patch notes also name those three heroes as competitors.
The reference lists these hero-specific moves:
- Black Widow: Fleet Foot and Lion Dancer.
- Iron Fist: Lion Kick and K’un-Lun Leap.
- Star-Lord: Lion Leap and a charged Culling Blaster attack.
Move names and keyboard labels in the reference may not match every platform’s control layout, so check the in-game controls for your platform rather than treating PC key labels as universal.

What is the mode, and when can you play it?
Clash of Dancing Lions was introduced as part of the Fortune & Colors event. The official patch notes give the event window as January 23–February 14, 2025 UTC, while the official Spring Festival trailer describes the mode as limited-time. Those sources establish its original event availability, not a current queue or a future rerun. Check the game’s event and mode listings for present availability.
