To play co-op in Infinity Nikki, meet the story requirements, then invite a friend through the friend system or interact with a Starlit Projection in the open world to open the co-op invitation interface. The invited player must accept; an accepted friend invite takes them to the inviter’s world. The Sea of Stars is a separate social area for meeting other players.
What you need to unlock co-op
The Version 1.5 notice says to progress through A Journey Born from the End. If the Store is still locked, complete Land with No Name first. These are the prerequisites stated in that notice; it does not establish that every current restriction is covered. See the official Version 1.5 notice.

How to invite a friend or meet up
Invite a specific friend
- Open the friend system and send that friend a co-op invitation.
- Wait for them to accept. The official guide says acceptance teleports the friend to the inviter’s world.
Invite from the open world
Interact with a Starlit Projection to open the co-op invitation interface. The official notice describes this as an invite interface; it does not say that using a projection automatically matches you with a random player.
Meet in the Sea of Stars
For broader social play, go to the Sea of Stars rather than inviting someone into a specific friend’s world. The official guide covers the co-op invite paths and social play in its co-op guide.

What you can do together
The official guide describes a mix of exploration, collection, social features, and scheduled activities. Some collection requires holding hands; other shared activities do not.
| How it works | Activities and details |
|---|---|
| Hold hands | Collect Whimstars, Dews of Inspiration, and treasure chests together. Each item counts in each player’s personal world; if one player has already collected it and the other has not, it appears as a shadow for the player who still needs it. |
| Hand-holding not required, according to the guide | Share rewards and related Insight progress from collecting, animal grooming, bug catching, and fishing; share Blings; fight together and share battle drops. |
| Social play | Move and jump while holding hands, use certain Ability Outfits, chat with a friend, and take group photos with each player’s chosen pose. Some public areas, including Dream Star Isles and Serenity Island, also let seated players chat. |
| Selected co-op activities | Daily Starlit Moments, weekly Starlit Pursuit, and some special Whimstar modes, including Little Big Whimstar, Chasing Whimstars, and Treasure Chest Challenges. |
| Home | Visit friends’ islands and give gifts, as described in the Version 1.9 notice. |
The activity and interaction details are in the official co-op guide. Home visits and gifting were described in the later Version 1.9 update notice.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why a co-op invitation might fail
Co-op does not mean every quest or activity can be completed together. Version 1.9 materials describe solo-quest summaries during open-world co-op, a shortcut to exit co-op and view solo quest details, and zone-specific quest hints in public co-op areas. Earlier official improvement notes said some features and quests were restricted in co-op maps and gave version mismatches and player states such as gliding, riding a vehicle, or preparing for a performance as examples of invite problems. Version 1.9 later said invitation error messages were optimized, but the published notices do not establish every current failure condition.

- Confirm both players have up-to-date clients.
- If someone is gliding, riding a vehicle, or preparing for a performance, leave that state and try again. This is a sensible check based on the earlier official examples, not a guaranteed fix.

Platform and cross-play details
Steam lists Infinity Nikki as supporting co-op and cross-platform multiplayer, but that listing does not explain the account, server, or matchmaking conditions for joining a particular friend. The reviewed official instructions also do not provide a complete control-by-control guide for PC, mobile, and console. Use the in-game interface for your platform rather than relying on unverified keyboard keys or assumptions about cross-platform parties. Steam’s feature listing identifies the listed multiplayer features.
The official co-op guide and unlock notice date to 2025-04-27 and describe Version 1.5. Home and co-op quality-of-life details discussed above come from official Version 1.9 materials published later in 2025; co-op features and restrictions may change with updates.
