To play 7 Days to Die across Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, enable crossplay in the world’s General options; PC players must also turn on EAC Protected. For a dedicated server, configure its crossplay settings and keep its player cap and gameplay settings within the official limits. Cross-platform play was announced with V1.2 Stable; the developer’s original Xbox and Microsoft PC Store certification caveat was specific to that release announcement, not a current availability ruling.
Set up crossplay in a hosted world
- Create a world or load an existing one, and enable the online server option for your platform as appropriate.
- Open the game’s General options and set Crossplay Enabled to On.
- On PC, also set EAC Protected to On. PC players need EAC enabled for cross-platform games to appear in the server browser.
- Start the world and have your friends find or join it through the game’s multiplayer options.
The Fun Pimps said when announcing V1.2 Stable on December 10, 2024, that enabling crossplay on older saves was expected to be safe. Treat that as guidance from the V1.2 announcement, not a guarantee for every later update. The announcement set crossplay’s maximum supported group at eight players and the world size at 8192. Configure a dedicated server for crossplay
A dedicated server can run separately from a player-hosted world, but it must meet the official crossplay requirements. In the server properties, use these values:
| Property | Required value |
|---|---|
ServerMaxPlayerCount |
8 or lower |
ServerAllowCrossplay |
True |
EACEnabled |
True |
IgnoreEOSSanctions |
False |
The server’s gameplay settings must also remain in the published crossplay-valid ranges. The official guide says AirDropFrequency and LootRespawnDays can be disabled with 0; other settings need to meet the listed bounds.

Choose between a hosted world and a dedicated server
| Option | Best fit | What to account for |
|---|---|---|
| In-game hosted world | A group that plays while the host is available | Enable crossplay in the world settings; PC also needs EAC Protected on. |
| Dedicated server | A group that wants a separately configured server | Meet the server property requirements and keep gameplay settings within valid ranges. |
If you rent a server, check that its current game build supports crossplay, matches the players’ game version, and lets you configure the required properties and gameplay settings. Hosting is optional; it does not bypass the game’s compatibility requirements.

Troubleshoot a missing or unjoinable game
- Match game versions. Make sure the server and every player use the same version. A mismatch can prevent connections.
- Check EAC. EAC must be enabled for crossplay connections. On a dedicated server, confirm
EACEnabled=True; on PC, turn on EAC Protected. - Adjust the server search. When searching for a friend, use the P2P tab if available and search by SteamID. Remove extra filters if no games appear.
- Test without a VPN. The official troubleshooting guide recommends trying with a VPN disabled if connection or search problems persist.
These checks follow the official EOS and Multiplayer Network Troubleshooting guide, updated October 1, 2026.
