Then work through the Expedition’s milestone list: milestones can be completed in any order, and completing every milestone in a phase unlocks that phase’s reward.
Choose how to start
Expeditions are shared journeys with a fixed starting point and milestones grouped into phases. The two entry routes suit different play styles:

The existing-save option was introduced with Omega. The current Expedition announcement retains both routes: the Terminus or a fresh save. Hello Games’ Omega update describes the existing-save system, while the Expedition Twenty-Three announcement confirms the current choices.
Starting from a fresh save
Choose the Expedition from a fresh-save start option while the event is open. This creates a separate Expedition run rather than launching from your primary save.

Starting from your existing save
- Travel to the Space Anomaly and interact with the Expedition Terminus.
- Before launch, choose any items and packaged equipment you want to stage for the Expedition.
- Start the Expedition. Once you reach the Space Anomaly during the run, retrieve the staged items.
Understand phases, milestones, and rewards
Open the Expedition page to see its phases and milestones. Each milestone describes a goal; pin one from the Expedition page or mission log to put targeted guidance in your mission guidance. You do not have to follow the milestone list in displayed order: milestones may be completed in any order, although some goals will naturally require specific locations or rendezvous points.
- Completing milestones earns progress and their listed rewards.
- Completing all milestones in a phase unlocks that phase’s reward.
- Completing the full Expedition can earn an additional reward.

A practical way to make progress
- Check the active event. Confirm in-game that the Expedition is available before setting aside time for it. Event windows are temporary.
- Pick your start route. Use a fresh save for a separate start, or the Space Anomaly’s Expedition Terminus if you want the existing-save workflow.
- Review the milestone list. Look across phases so you can spot goals that may overlap, then pin the milestone you want to work on first.
- Follow the guidance and milestone conditions. Complete tasks in whichever order suits you, visiting required rendezvous points when a milestone calls for one.
- Collect phase rewards as they unlock. Check the Expedition page as you finish milestones to see when a phase is complete and its reward is available.
- Return to your primary save if needed. From an existing-save Expedition, use the terminal or main-menu option to pause the run and return to your primary save; resume the Expedition later.
- Transfer items and technology at the end. If you began through the Terminus, use it to return eligible items and technology to your primary save when the Expedition is complete.
Current Expedition: Our Journey Continues
Hello Games announced Expedition Twenty-Three, Our Journey Continues, on September 16, 2026. The announcement describes an approximate six-week run, but does not provide an exact closing date or time. Check the in-game event listing rather than treating six weeks as a precise cutoff. It can be started at the Expedition Terminus aboard the Space Anomaly or from a fresh save.
For this Expedition, exclusive phase rewards can be redeemed across save games at the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion aboard the Space Anomaly. This is where to claim those cross-save rewards; it is distinct from staging items at the Expedition Terminus.

If an Expedition milestone appears stuck
Hello Games’ September 30, 2026 Cosmos 7.05 notice says a fix addressed an issue affecting the Expedition Beacon milestone and that reward-redemption messaging was improved. The notice said the patch was live on Steam and would reach other platforms as soon as possible; it does not confirm that rollout has finished on every platform. If a milestone or reward behaves unexpectedly, check that your game is updated on your platform and consult the current in-game event listing.
