What you play in Years 1–4 and Years 5–7
Years 1–4
The first game follows Harry’s early years at Hogwarts through LEGO-style action, exploration, and puzzles. TT Games says players learn spells, brew potions, explore Hogwarts and other locations, and work through the story cooperatively with a friend. Treat that description as the reliable overview: the official page does not provide a complete mission list or a Switch 2-specific tutorial sequence.
In practical terms, expect to move through story spaces, look for interactive objects, use magic to overcome obstacles, and combine exploration with environmental problem-solving. The LEGO presentation adds humor and collectible-focused exploration to the familiar first four years of the story.
Years 5–7
The collection also contains the remastered Years 5–7 campaign, covering the remainder of the seven-year Harry Potter story. WB Games describes the collection as a combined adventure in which players overcome obstacles and solve puzzles. The official pages do not establish every mechanic or tutorial difference between Years 1–4 and Years 5–7, so follow each game’s on-screen prompts when a new interaction appears.
Character Pack and Spell Pack
WB Games lists the Character Pack and Spell Pack DLC as part of the collection. These additions expand the playable content beyond the two main campaigns, but the referenced product pages do not enumerate every character or spell in the packs. You do not need to purchase those packs separately when they are included with this collection listing.

- Check the displayed release or availability information for your country. Nintendo’s US and UK pages list October 16, 2026, but storefront timing can vary by region.
- Verify that the publisher is WB Games and that both Years 1–4 and Years 5–7 are described as included.
Do not assume that an older Nintendo Switch listing and the dedicated Switch 2 listing are interchangeable. Nintendo’s general compatibility guidance says Switch 2 can play compatible physical and digital Switch games, while warning that some titles may not be supported or fully compatible. Allow enough storage
Nintendo of America gives an estimated download size of 13.7 GB for the Switch 2 listing. Nintendo also warns that preorder information, including download-size details, may not be final. Keep more free space than the estimate if possible so the console can download and install updates without immediately running out of room. If the final store page shows a different size, use that current figure instead of the earlier estimate.
Choose your play arrangement

- From the eShop product page, complete the purchase or select the download option if you already own the game.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish. The 13.7 GB figure is an estimate, not a guaranteed final size.
- Return to the Switch 2 HOME Menu and select the LEGO Harry Potter Collection icon.
- At the game’s opening screens, read the prompts and choose the campaign or activity presented by the software. The official pages do not publish the exact menu labels, so do not expect every version to use identical wording.
- If another person is joining, connect and assign a compatible controller for each player before entering a cooperative session.
If the icon does not appear after purchasing, check the download queue and confirm that the console is connected to the internet. If the product is not yet available in your region, the store may show a preorder or an unavailable status instead of a playable download.
How local two-player play works

Set up a second player
- Turn on or wake the additional controller.

The exact way players divide tasks, switch characters, or trigger a cooperative interaction can vary by situation; use the visual cues the game supplies.

The gameplay loop: spells, potions, exploration, and puzzles
Learn and apply spells
TT Games specifically identifies learning spells as a core part of Years 1–4. When the game introduces a spell or shows a magical interaction, look for objects that react to it. If an obstacle remains unchanged, search the surrounding area for another character, item, or potion-related requirement rather than repeatedly attempting the same action.

Treat potion stations and ingredients as part of the problem-solving loop: an area may require you to explore first, identify what is missing, and then return once the relevant interaction is available. - Finish the opening instructions. Do not skip prompts that introduce movement, interaction, spells, or potion use. The game’s own prompts are the authoritative control reference for your edition.
- Inspect each new area before rushing onward. Look for objects that can be built, moved, activated, or affected by magic. Exploration is a stated part of the design, so a quick scan often reveals the intended route.
- Separate story progress from optional searching. If an object does not respond, mark its location mentally and continue. Return after learning a new spell, potion interaction, or character ability.
- Use both players as problem-solvers in co-op. One player can examine the environment while the other tests an obvious interaction, but both should follow the same on-screen prompts.
- When stuck, change the question. Instead of asking which button opens a blocked path, ask what the scene is missing: a spell, potion, character, ingredient, or nearby construction.

The download will not start
Check the console’s free storage, internet connection, and download queue. Use the current eShop size rather than relying exclusively on the earlier 13.7 GB estimate, because Nintendo says preorder details may change.
There is not enough storage
Free space by archiving software you can redownload later or by using storage supported by your console. Keep room for the installation and any update data. Do not delete save data unless you have confirmed that it is backed up and no longer needed.
A second player cannot join
Make sure the second player has a separate compatible controller, as Nintendo UK specifies one controller per player. Pair both controllers through the console, then return to the game and follow its join prompt. If the prompt is absent, finish the current instruction or scene and check again in the next playable area.
