Mobile multiplayer does not become Java multiplayer simply because the other player is on a computer. The mobile player needs the Bedrock version, and the PC player must also launch Bedrock rather than Java. Touch controls are available on mobile, and compatible controllers can also be used.

How do you invite friends to a Minecraft Bedrock world?
Use the Bedrock world’s multiplayer settings and the in-game Social menu. The following path applies to Bedrock on supported PC, mobile, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch versions, although labels can vary slightly by platform.
- Open Minecraft and select Play.
- Open the Worlds tab and select the pencil icon beside the world.
- Select Multiplayer and enable the multiplayer-game toggle.
- Select Play to load the world.
- Pause the game and select the Social button in the top-right corner.
- Select Invite to Play, choose the friends, and select Send Invites.
Every Bedrock player should be signed in with or linked to a Microsoft account. Add friends using their Minecraft or Xbox gamertags. If an invitation does not appear, review the account’s privacy and multiplayer permissions. The Friends tab can also show eligible friends who are currently playing.
Can friends play on your Minecraft world when you are offline?
Usually, no. A normal hosted Minecraft world generally exists for multiplayer only while the host is online and the world is active. Friends cannot treat an ordinary personal world as a persistent server after the host leaves.
For an always-available private world, use Minecraft Realms or another persistent server. Realms is Minecraft’s official cloud-hosted option: the owner invites friends, and the Realm remains available when the owner is not playing. How does Java Edition multiplayer work?
Java Edition multiplayer is designed for Java players on Windows, macOS, and Linux. From the launcher, select Java Edition, choose Multiplayer, and connect to a compatible online server, or open a LAN world when everyone is on the same network.

Is Minecraft Realms worth it?

Does console split-screen work?
Yes, Bedrock console split-screen is a separate local multiplayer option that does not require friends to join over the internet. Check the following items in order. Most failed invitations come from an edition mismatch, account permissions, a disabled world setting, a missing console subscription, or an offline host.
- Edition: Confirm that everyone is using Java, or that everyone is using Bedrock. A Java player cannot ordinarily join a Bedrock world.
- Microsoft account: Confirm that each Bedrock player is signed in or linked correctly.
- Friend list: Confirm that the host added the other player’s Minecraft or Xbox gamertag.
- World permission: Edit the world, open Multiplayer, and confirm that multiplayer is enabled.
- Console subscription: Confirm that each console player has the required online service.
- Host status: If the world is an ordinary hosted world, confirm that the host is still online and the world is open.
