Without owning a PS5, you have two official options: install a game’s separate Windows version, or stream a supported title through the PlayStation Plus Premium PC app. You cannot install a PS5 disc on a PC, and Remote Play does not work without access to a PS5.
The quickest way to decide is simple: check for an official PC release first; if there is none, check whether the game is marked as streamable through PlayStation Plus Premium. If neither option applies, that PS5 version has no official console-free PC route.

The two official ways to play PS5 games on PC
1. Buy and install the official PC version
Some PlayStation games have been ported to Windows. A native PC release runs locally on your computer, so it does not require a PS5, PlayStation Plus Premium, or a continuous streaming connection. It generally offers lower latency and may support keyboard and mouse, depending on the game.

Buy the PC edition through the game’s official publisher page or an authorised PC storefront. A PS5 purchase normally does not automatically include the Windows edition. PlayStation account linking may provide trophies, social features, cross-play, or cross-progression where a particular game supports them, but linking your account does not convert a console licence into a PC copy. 2. Stream select games with PlayStation Plus Premium
PlayStation Plus Premium is Sony’s official no-console option for eligible games. With the PlayStation Plus PC app, the game runs on Sony’s servers while your PC receives a video stream and sends controller input back to the service. The game is not installed or executed locally as a PS5 title.
Premium does not provide the entire PS5 library. Sony offers a changing, curated selection, and a title being available on PS5—or included in the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog—does not necessarily mean it can be streamed on PC. Availability can depend on country, licensing, catalogue rotation, membership, age restrictions, and the individual title listing. Sony identifies Premium as the cloud-streaming tier in its PlayStation Plus plan information. Subscription prices vary by region and can change; check the live U.S. PlayStation Store subscription page for the current price rather than relying on older launch pricing.
How to stream a PS5 game on your PC
- Use a compatible Windows PC and download the official PlayStation Plus PC app.
- Install and launch the app.
- Sign in with an adult PlayStation account, or create one.
- Subscribe to PlayStation Plus Premium if your account does not already have it.
- Connect a compatible controller. Sony specifically lists the DualShock 4; some third-party XInput controllers may work, but compatibility is not guaranteed.
- Browse the games available for PC streaming.
- Open the title’s listing and confirm that a streaming option is shown.
- Select the option to start streaming and wait for the game session to begin.
You can browse the app with a keyboard and mouse, but Sony requires a compatible controller to play streamed games. Do not assume that a DualSense controller is fully supported by the PC streaming app unless Sony’s current documentation confirms it for your setup.

PC streaming requirements and limitations
- Internet: Sony states a broadband connection of at least 5 Mbps, with 15 Mbps required for 1080p streaming. These are minimums, not guarantees of low latency or consistently good image quality.
- Connection type: Sony recommends a wired connection. Ethernet is preferable to congested or unreliable Wi-Fi.
- Controller: A compatible controller is required. DualShock 4 is the clearest officially documented choice.
- Controls: Keyboard and mouse are not supported as gameplay controls for streamed games.
- Audio: Headsets connected to the controller do not work for PC streaming; use speakers or headphones connected to the computer.
- Chat: Party Chat is not supported in the PlayStation Plus PC app.
- DLC: Game add-ons and DLC cannot be used while streaming a PlayStation Plus game.
- Features: Sony lists restrictions including no broadcasting, Share Play, Share Screen, PSVR, PS Move, or Remote Play while streaming. Queues may also occur.
- Local multiplayer: PC streaming supports up to two players on compatible titles.

How to check whether your specific game works
Use this title-by-title checklist:
- Search for an official PC version. Check Sony’s PlayStation PC hub and the game publisher’s official site.
- Check the current Premium catalogue. A PS5 listing alone is not enough.
- Look for the PC-streaming option. The PlayStation Plus PC app is the practical final check: the game must show an option to stream there.
- Confirm your region. Catalogue and streaming availability can differ between countries.
- Check your membership. Extra does not provide the PC cloud-streaming benefit; Premium is required.
- Consider your needs. Verify whether you require DLC, keyboard and mouse, high visual quality, local multiplayer, or low latency.
If a title is missing from the PC app, it may not be in the current Premium catalogue, may be available on console but not PC streaming, may be unavailable in your region, may have left the catalogue, or may simply be a PS5 purchase that is not eligible for PC streaming. Confirm the listing, account, plan, and region, then search for a separate PC release.

Do PS5 purchases, discs, and saves transfer to PC?
PS5 purchases
Do not assume that a digital PS5 purchase gives you a Windows licence. Some games may offer a specific cross-buy or upgrade arrangement, but that must be stated for the individual title. In general, you need to buy the PC version separately.

A PS5 disc is not a Windows installer. A PC optical drive cannot use it to run the PS5 game as a native PC application, and inserting the disc does not create a PC licence.

Save data
Saves for streamed games are stored on PlayStation’s streaming service, allowing you to continue on another compatible device. Saves are not automatically transferred between streamed and downloaded versions. Sony says cloud storage can be used to transfer saves between streamed and downloaded game types. Remote Play is not console-free
Remote Play means your own PS5 does the work. It streams a game installed on your console to another device, including a PC. Therefore, Remote Play requires access to a PS5 or PS4 and does not solve the “without a console” requirement.
Cloud streaming means Sony’s servers do the work. PlayStation Plus Premium cloud streaming is the relevant option for someone who owns no PlayStation console. Installing Remote Play instead of the PlayStation Plus PC app will not give a console-free player access to PS5 games.

Is PlayStation Plus Premium worth it?
Premium is a sensible option if you want to try several supported games, have a stable connection, and are comfortable using a controller and streaming rather than installing locally. It is a poor fit if you want one particular unstreamable game, require its DLC, rely on keyboard and mouse, or have unstable internet.
For the best graphics, lowest latency, and local ownership of the software, choose an official PC release when one exists. For a title with no PC port and no Premium streaming listing, the remaining legitimate choices are to use a PlayStation console, wait for a PC release or catalogue addition, or choose another game. Unofficial emulation and piracy are not dependable or authorised substitutes and bring legal, security, compatibility, and performance risks.
