What Psylocke is designed to do
Marvel Rivals classifies Psylocke as a Duelist. The official hero profile describes a kit built around damaging enemies, short dashes, and temporary invisibility. In a match, that makes her a mobile pressure hero who can approach from an unexpected direction and punish an exposed target. Treat “assassin” as a useful play-style description, not a promise that every isolated enemy is an easy elimination.

Her strongest opportunities usually come when opponents are already looking elsewhere or teammates are applying pressure. An off-angle lets you threaten a target without running straight through the enemy team. If the target turns toward you, your team may gain space; if they stay focused elsewhere, you have a better chance to land hits. This is a tactical approach based on her documented mobility and stealth, not a guaranteed combo or performance ranking.
A practical decision loop for each engagement
- Wait near cover and read the fight. Look for an exposed or distracted enemy, and note which opponents can quickly punish your approach.
- Check your routes before moving in. Identify nearby cover and decide whether you will need a dash or Psychic Stealth to leave. Avoid spending every mobility option just to begin the attack.
- Apply safe Crossbow pressure. Land Psionic Crossbow hits when you have a clear opportunity. Its hits reduce all of Psylocke’s ability cooldowns, so primary fire helps keep the rest of her kit available.
- Use Wing Shurikens when the target is in reach. The shurikens fly straight, stick to enemies, deal damage, and grant Psylocke bonus health. Recall them when useful; remember that using Psi-Blade Dash automatically recalls them.
- Commit with a dash only when it helps. A dash can close distance or support a retreat. If the enemy has turned to face you, your team is too far away, or your exit is closing, stop chasing rather than forcing the play.
- Use Stealth to reposition or disengage. The concealment and movement boost create a brief opportunity to cross space or break contact. Decide which job it is doing before activating it.
The order is a flexible decision aid, not a fixed ability rotation. Psylocke’s cooldowns, target distance, incoming pressure, and teammates’ timing all change whether it is sensible to attack or leave.

How to get value from each ability
Psionic Crossbow: pressure that also cycles cooldowns
The official profile says Psionic Crossbow fires damaging bolts and that hits reduce the cooldowns of all Psylocke’s abilities; the attack can critically hit. Keep firing when you have a safe, useful shot rather than holding the weapon while waiting for a perfect opening. The hits can help bring back your options, but they do not make an unsafe position safe.
For the dated balance values, the Marvel Rivals Version 20260710 patch post, dated July 6, 2026, sets the Crossbow’s single-hit base damage at 13, or 14 when Cloak & Dagger are selected as Psylocke’s Team-Up partners. These are patch values, not a claim that later updates cannot change them. The older profile uses a different per-round field, so do not treat that older figure as the same measurement.
Wing Shurikens: account for their return
The five-shuriken volley travels in a straight line, sticks to enemies, deals damage, and grants bonus health. You can recall the shurikens, while Psi-Blade Dash automatically recalls them; their return path first goes to Psylocke’s starting position. Consider both the target’s position and your own before throwing them, especially if you expect to dash immediately afterward.

The July 6, 2026 balance post says the Emma Frost Team-Up raises the bonus health granted per shuriken hit from 10 to 15. This value describes that Team-Up effect in the cited patch.
Psi-Blade Dash: keep a charge available for the right moment
The official profile lists two dash charges, a maximum distance of 12 meters, and a 12-second cooldown. Dash also recalls Wing Shurikens. Use it to reposition, follow a viable attack, or leave danger; spending both charges to start a fight can leave you without a useful response if the target survives or reinforcements arrive.
Psychic Stealth: a brief window, not a long escape
The profile lists a movement boost and a two-second duration, with a 15-second cooldown. That is a short concealment window. Use it to cross a dangerous gap, change your angle, or disengage while you still have a route to cover. Its brevity makes it a poor substitute for deciding in advance when to stop fighting.
Dance of the Butterfly: look for a close, pressured target
The profile describes a four-second ultimate that attacks enemies within a 10-meter spherical radius, prioritizing the enemy hit least. It is most promising when opponents are close enough and your team’s pressure makes it harder for them to scatter or interrupt the opportunity. Avoid using it at range or into a ready defensive response simply because the ability is available.
The official July 6, 2026 patch post consulted here does not give a new Psylocke ultimate energy cost. The profile’s listed cost should not be assumed current without newer confirmation. That patch also reduced Duelists’ damage-to-Ultimate-energy conversion from 70% to 55% as a global Season 9 change.

The official hero profile was dated November 24, 2024 and includes fields that conflict with the later balance post, including an older Crossbow damage figure and older Team-Up values. Use the dated patch for the specific changes above and the profile for ability functions where no conflict is apparent. Values can change in later patches.
Set up controls and aim for your platform
Marvel Rivals is linked for Windows, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S on the official Marvel Rivals site. Control labels differ by platform, so use the prompts shown in your own settings rather than assuming PC keys apply to console. On PC, a gaming mouse is an optional way to aim the Crossbow, whose attacks can critically hit; no particular model is required to learn Psylocke.
