What you need to play the full campaign together
- One player must own the full game and host.
- The guest must download the free “Free Trial & Friend’s Pass” version from the same platform’s store.
- Both players need an internet connection and must play on the same platform.
- On PlayStation, both players need PlayStation Plus to play online co-op.
With those requirements met, the owner invites the guest online and both can play through the full campaign. You do not need to buy a second copy for the guest.

How to invite a friend with the Friend’s Pass
- Choose who will host and make sure that player owns the full game.
- Have the guest find and download “Free Trial & Friend’s Pass” in the same platform’s store.
- Check that both players can play online. On PlayStation, each player needs PlayStation Plus.
- Launch the game and have the owner send the guest an online invitation.
Friend’s Pass versus the free trial
The free download supports two different situations. If one person owns the game, the guest can join that owner for the full campaign. If neither person owns it, both can use the free trial to play the beginning together online. Bandai Namco describes that trial as approximately the first 30 minutes; progress carries over if a player later buys the full game.

Is multiplayer local or cross-platform?
No. The multiplayer mode is online co-op, not couch co-op or split-screen. The Friend’s Pass requires both players to be on the same platform, so it does not let a player on one platform join a friend on another.

Bandai Namco’s June 24, 2025 Q&A said cross-platform play between manufacturers would not be supported and that cross-generation play would not be available at launch, while noting it was still under consideration. That is a launch-period statement, not confirmation of the current cross-generation status.

Bandai Namco announced the October 10, 2025 release for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo’s US Switch 2 listing also confirms a free trial and Friend’s Pass there. These announcements do not establish the pass’s current storefront availability on every platform, so check the store for the platform you and your friend use.
