Every word you enter is applied to all four boards, so the key is to read each board’s clues separately and use guesses to narrow down several answers at once.
How do you play Quordle?
- Enter a five-letter word and submit it. The same guess is sent to all four boards.
- Read the colored feedback on each board: green marks a letter in the correct position, yellow marks a letter that appears elsewhere in that answer, and gray marks a letter absent from that answer.
- Use the keyboard indicators to track clues board by board. On the reviewed Quordle.game FAQ, each key is divided into four sections, one for each board.
- Keep guessing until you solve all four words or use your nine attempts.
A color applies only to the board where it appears. A gray letter on one board may still be part of another board’s answer, and one guess can earn different colors across the four boards.
How to use your guesses well
Choose early guesses for useful clues
Early on, try words that test useful letters across the boards rather than focusing only on an immediate solve. Because each guess produces feedback on four puzzles, a word can help even if it does not complete any answer. This follows from the game’s mechanics; it is not a proven formula for a particular win rate.
Track clues separately for each board
For every board, keep track of confirmed positions, letters that are present but misplaced, and letters ruled out. The keyboard’s board-specific indicators can help, or you can make brief notes. Do not carry a color clue from one board to another.
Move from broad testing to likely answers
Once a board has several clues, look for words that fit its exact pattern and the letters that board has confirmed or ruled out. A pattern that fits one answer is not evidence for another board unless its feedback supports it too.
Use guesses to distinguish between candidates
If several words still fit a board, consider which guess would best separate those possibilities. Since the guess is shared, also check whether it can provide useful information on other unfinished boards. This is strategic guidance, not an official rule or an experimentally verified optimal method.
Recheck repeated letters
If a word seems to fit but the feedback is confusing, consider whether the answer might contain a repeated letter. Do not assume every letter appears only once; interpret the clues in the context of that specific board.
Mistakes that cost useful information
- Focusing on only one board: every guess also gives clues on the other boards that remain in play.
- Combining clues from different boards: green, yellow, and gray feedback describes one answer at a time.
- Ignoring established constraints: check that a new guess respects that board’s known positions and present or absent letters.
- Assuming one opener is best: the available sources do not establish a tested best starting word or rank strategies by success rate.
Which Quordle version are you playing?
Several sites and implementations use the Quordle name, and the available information does not establish one canonical current operator or show that every version has the same word lists, modes, or attempt count. The reviewed Quordle.me page describes free play without signup or download; those details apply to that page, not every site or app using the name. Its rules page describes the four-board, nine-guess format: Quordle.me. A separate Quordle.game FAQ also describes four five-letter answers and nine guesses, and says that its game is currently unlimited: Quordle.game FAQ. Check the rules and available modes on the version you choose rather than assuming those settings are universal.
