You can try Roblox on Linux without Wine by installing Sober, an unofficial Flatpak runtime, and letting its first-run setup install Roblox. Sober is experimental and unsupported by Roblox, so this is a workaround rather than an official Linux client.
What Sober is—and what it is not
Sober is a Linux runtime for Roblox distributed through Flathub. Its developers describe it as a closed-source experimental research project that creates a specialized runtime rather than using Wine, an Android emulator, or a virtual machine. It is not an official Roblox client and is not affiliated with or supported by Roblox. Sober project homepage
The Sober developers caution: “It’s a passion project rather than production-grade code. It’s not supported by Roblox and may be discontinued at any time.” Expect possible bugs or instability; neither compatibility with every experience nor account safety or continued availability is guaranteed by the reviewed project information.
Roblox’s 2025 annual report lists its client platforms as iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation, Chromebook, and select VR hardware as of December 31, 2025. Check whether your Linux PC meets Sober’s requirements
Sober’s published requirements are minimums, not a guarantee that a particular system or Roblox experience will work. Its documentation bases them on Roblox’s official mobile requirements. Sober documentation

Flathub lists Sober for x86_64 only, so installing Flatpak does not make it compatible with ARM or with a GPU that lacks the required graphics capabilities. Sober on Flathub

Install Sober and Roblox
- Install Flatpak using your distribution’s package manager or setup instructions if it is not already installed. The exact steps depend on your Linux distribution.
- Install Sober from Flathub: open a terminal and run
flatpak install flathub org.vinegarhq.Sober. Confirm any prompts from Flatpak to proceed. - Launch Sober from your desktop application’s menu.
- Follow the first-run prompt to install Roblox. Automatic installation is selected by default; leave it selected if you are unsure about manual installation.
- If you choose manual installation, provide the requested APK bundle version. Some split APK bundles require selecting both the base APK and the x86_64 split. If you are uncertain whether an APK mirror is trustworthy, use the automatic installation option instead.
Labels and prompts may change between releases, so follow the instructions shown by the installed version if they differ from this outline.
What to expect from the current release
When Flathub was accessed on October 5, 2026, its listing showed Sober version 1.8.0. The release notes say it fixed long-standing performance issues and freezes, a rendering bug affecting some titles on certain GPUs, and some Vulkan-related crashes; they also say it updated Roblox to 2.741.1061. Those are the release notes’ claims, not independent test results or a promise that the same fixes apply to your system. Check the Flathub listing for the version and notes available when you install.

The project homepage makes favorable comparative performance claims, but those claims are not independently substantiated here. There is no basis to promise a particular frame rate, performance relative to Windows, or that every Roblox experience will run correctly.
Uninstall Sober
To remove the app, run flatpak uninstall org.vinegarhq.Sober. According to the installation documentation, this command keeps the app’s data by default. Sober installation documentation

Is Sober the right option?
Sober is a route to try if you already use a compatible x86-64 Linux computer and are comfortable relying on an unofficial experimental project. If you need an officially listed Roblox client platform, use a device on Roblox’s dated platform list instead. The available information does not establish a reliable comparison that makes Sober categorically better than other Linux approaches.
