The current client installs on 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11, and Windows 11 is the sensible supported target because Windows 10 reached end of support in 2025.
You cannot play Roblox on Windows 7 through a supported PC setup in 2026. Roblox’s current Windows app installs only on 64-bit Windows 10 or Windows 11. Opening the Roblox website in Chrome, Firefox, or Edge does not change that requirement: browser support for the website is separate from support for the installed Roblox app.

For a safe, current solution, first determine whether the PC can run Windows 11. If it can, back up the machine and install Windows 11 using Microsoft’s official media, then install Roblox. If it cannot, the supported choices are a Windows 11-capable replacement computer or playing on a supported phone or tablet.

Roblox lists 64-bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 as the supported Windows versions for installing its app. Windows 7 is not in that list. Roblox also notes that its website supports Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge on Windows PCs, but that only lets the browser display the website; it does not make a Windows 7 computer eligible to run the current Roblox client. Roblox’s current PC requirements are the source to trust over old videos, archived installers, or forum posts.

This does not mean Roblox never worked on Windows 7. It means there is no present, supported Windows 7 route for the current client.
Windows 10 is listed by Roblox, but it is not the sensible long-term destination for a 2026 upgrade. Microsoft ended standard Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025. PCs can still run it, but standard technical assistance, feature updates, and security updates ended on that date. Windows 7 itself has been out of support much longer. Check Windows 11 compatibility before spending money
A computer can be powerful enough for Roblox yet still fail Windows 11 eligibility. Windows 11 has platform-security, firmware, and driver requirements that Roblox does not. Check the exact PC model and its specifications before buying a Windows license, USB drive, RAM, or replacement parts.

Those are Microsoft’s baseline requirements; a compatible processor is specifically required, not merely a 64-bit processor. See the official Windows 11 requirements for the current complete list.
For comparison, Roblox’s PC baseline is lower in several areas: DirectX 10 feature-level support, a recent 1.6 GHz-or-better processor, at least 1 GB of RAM, and 300 MB of storage. Roblox recommends 4–8 Mb/s internet for a single-use household. Meeting those Roblox figures does not prove that the PC can run Windows 11. Roblox PC hardware requirements
What to check on an old PC
- Find the exact make and model on the case, in the BIOS/UEFI screen, or in Windows 7’s Control Panel > System.
- Compare the processor, installed RAM, storage, graphics, firmware mode, Secure Boot capability, and TPM version with Microsoft’s requirements and the manufacturer’s documentation for that model.
- Do not assume that an SSD, extra RAM, or a graphics-card upgrade will make the machine eligible. Those changes may improve performance, but they do not automatically provide an approved CPU, UEFI/Secure Boot support, TPM 2.0, or a suitable graphics driver.
If the PC is eligible for Windows 11
Treat the move as an operating-system migration, not as a Roblox installer fix. It affects the whole computer.

- Back up first. Copy important documents, photos, game files, browser data, and anything else you cannot replace to external storage or a cloud service. A clean installation can erase the drive.
- Use Microsoft’s official Windows 11 download path. The Windows 11 Installation Assistant is intended for a PC already running Windows 10 version 2004 or later, so it is not the Windows 7 upgrade tool. For a compatible Windows 7-era machine, use Microsoft’s official Windows 11 installation-media route and follow the instructions for the particular PC and license.
- Create installation media carefully. Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool can create a bootable installer. Use a blank USB flash drive with at least 8 GB; its existing contents will be deleted. You need a reliable internet connection, and Windows activation may require a valid product key or digital license. Microsoft’s installation-media instructions
- Install Windows 11 and update it. Follow Microsoft’s setup screens and the PC maker’s instructions for booting from USB if needed. Install current Windows and hardware-driver updates before gaming.
- Install Roblox from its official site. Sign in at Roblox and use the normal download/install prompt to get the current client.
Do not use a Windows 11 hardware-requirement bypass as the answer to this problem. Microsoft says an ineligible device is not supported and is not entitled to updates. That exchanges one unsupported setup for another. Microsoft installation guidance
If the PC is not eligible
There is no inexpensive Windows setting, old Roblox installer, or browser workaround that turns a noncompliant Windows 7 PC into a supported current Roblox PC. - It ships with Windows 11 or is explicitly eligible for it.
- Its graphics hardware, memory, and storage are appropriate for the Roblox experiences you want to play.
- It has reliable networking for your household and enough ports or wireless support for your controller, headset, keyboard, and mouse if you use them.
Do not assume every mini PC offers the same game performance, and do not buy a 16 GB USB drive expecting it to fix an incompatible computer. A blank USB drive is only an accessory for creating official installation media on a compatible, properly licensed PC.

If replacing the computer is not practical now, you can play Roblox on another supported device. Roblox requires iOS 14 or iPadOS 14 or later on iPhone and iPad. On Android, it requires Android 8.0 or later and OpenGL ES 3.0 support. Roblox mobile system requirements
That is a legitimate alternative for the same Roblox account, but it is not Roblox on Windows 7. Do not assume that touch controls, performance, or every individual experience will feel identical to a PC.

What not to do
- Do not download a “Roblox for Windows 7” installer from an unofficial site. It does not change Roblox’s current operating-system support policy and creates avoidable security risk.
- Do not rely on an old client or third-party launcher. The supported Windows version requirement applies to the current Roblox app; an unofficial tool cannot make Windows 7 a supported platform.
- Do not treat a browser as a client workaround. Supported browsers can open the Roblox website, but Windows 7 is still outside the current Windows app installation list.
- Do not force Windows 11 onto unsupported hardware. It is not a reliable, supported solution and may not receive updates.
After moving to a supported device
If Roblox still has problems after you are on Windows 11, verify that Windows is fully updated, install the PC maker’s current graphics driver, confirm that the device meets Roblox’s DirectX 10 feature-level requirement, and check free storage and internet quality. If the issue is limited to one Roblox experience rather than the client itself, the experience may have its own performance demands beyond Roblox’s basic platform requirements.

A bootable Windows installer needs a blank USB flash drive with at least 8 GB. The drive will be erased. It is useful only for the official installation-media route on a compatible, licensed PC; it cannot make unsupported hardware compatible.
