These are not guaranteed to work across platforms: a service listing’s features do not establish that players on different operating systems or devices can join the same match. Confirm compatibility with your group before settling on an option.
Set up the match
- Choose a service everyone can access. Decide whether the group prefers browser play or an app, and check regional availability and device compatibility.
- Connect with your friends. Use the service’s friend, challenge, or connection feature. The listed services describe different methods, so follow the current in-game instructions rather than assuming a universal invitation flow.
- Agree on the game format. Check the supported player count and whether you are playing Scopa or a variant such as Scopone. Confirm scoring or variant settings before the deal.
- Review social settings if needed. Scopa Più says players can choose whether their online status is visible to everyone, friends only, or nobody, and can control friend requests, private messages, and chat. Look for equivalent controls in the service you choose.
- Start the match. Once everyone is connected and has agreed on the rules, begin a game.
Scopa rules to know before you start
Scopa uses an Italian-style deck, commonly with 40 cards. A standard deal begins with three cards to each player and four cards face up on the table. Players take turns playing one card. A played card can capture a single table card of the same value; if no single card matches, it can capture a combination of table cards whose values add up to the played card. If no capture is possible, the played card stays on the table. Pagat’s rules describe these basics and the scoring system: Scopa rules at Pagat.

Dealing and capturing
After both players play their three-card hands, the dealer gives each another three cards. Continue until the deck is exhausted. A capture that clears every card from the table is called a scopa, or sweep. At the end of the deal, leftover table cards go to the last player or team that made a capture. Capturing those final cards with the final play does not count as a scopa.
Scoring and winning
In the scoring system described by Pagat, players or teams can earn one point for each scopa, having the most cards, having the most coins (also called diamonds), taking the seven of coins, and having the best primiera. A tie for most cards or most coins earns no point in that category. The first player or team to reach 11 cumulative points wins; a match can take multiple deals.
