During that window, players could download it on Steam, PS5, or Xbox Series X|S without signing up or getting an invitation. The Alpha dates were not the game’s full release date; 1047 Games later announced a relaunch as SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, scheduled for December 17, 2025.
Can you play the Splitgate 2 Open Alpha now?
No. The four-day Open Alpha ended on March 2, 2025, so its former download instructions no longer provide access. It was a temporary preview, not an ongoing version of the game. 1047 Games’ February 26, 2025 announcement described the event as free and open through Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, with no sign-up required.

When was the Splitgate 2 Alpha, and when was the full game released?
The Alpha ran from February 27 to March 2, 2025. That was the preview’s event window, not a full-game release date. The February 2025 announcement said the full game was expected later that year but did not give an exact launch date.
On December 4, 2025, 1047 Games announced that the game would relaunch under the name SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded, with a planned free-to-play release on December 17, 2025. This was a later milestone, separate from the original Alpha. The studio’s announcement gives the relaunch name and date.

How players accessed the Alpha during its event
When the event was live, the steps were straightforward:
- Use Steam on PC, a PS5, or an Xbox Series X|S.
- Download the Open Alpha from the relevant platform during February 27–March 2, 2025.
- Launch it during the event window. No invitation or separate sign-up was needed, and access was free.
These are historical instructions only; the Alpha event has ended. The original platform list is documented in 1047 Games’ event post. Do not assume that platforms mentioned for the later relaunch also had Alpha access.

What was in the Open Alpha?
The preview’s headline addition was Multi-Team Portal Warfare, a large-map mode with three teams of eight—24 players total. The event also featured arena modes including Hotzone, Team Deathmatch, Splitball, and Firecracker, plus new weapons and equipment. These are details of the 2025 Alpha, not a description of the later rebuilt relaunch.
In a PlayStation Blog post dated February 12, 2025, Nate Dern, Lead Writer at 1047 Games, described the central mechanic: “In Splitgate 2, every player can use portals to outsmart opponents, making movement strategy as vital to your success as a steady aim.”

What happened to Arena Reloaded after its relaunch?
For current-status context, a PC Gamer report dated August 31, 2026, citing a 1047 Games Steam update, said dedicated servers and matchmaking for SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded would end on September 3, 2026, while peer-to-peer hosted matches could continue. That report concerns the later game’s service, not a reopening of the 2025 Open Alpha. Service status can change; the report is available from PC Gamer.
