For the main numbered games, play Suikoden (I), Suikoden II, Suikoden III, Suikoden IV, then Suikoden V. The easiest current starting point for that route is Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars, which includes the first two games.
Release order for the main Suikoden games

This is the recommended route if you want to follow the numbered series as players encountered it. Konami’s 2025 corporate report dates the franchise’s start to 1995 and says eleven titles had been released by then, so the five numbered games are not the entire series. The available sources do not provide a complete official list of exact release dates across regions.

Where to start today
Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars launched on March 6, 2025. It packages the first two games together, so it is a straightforward way to begin the numbered release-order route. Konami lists PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store; a separate official listing also names Nintendo Switch 2. Check your local platform store because availability can vary by region and storefront. Konami’s remaster product information has current product details.
The remaster covers only Suikoden and Suikoden II. Treat Suikoden III, IV, and V as separate releases; current digital availability for each was not established here. If you seek original editions, check the specific platform, region, language, condition, and compatibility before buying.

Should you include the spin-offs?
If by “Suikoden games” you mean every franchise release rather than the numbered console entries, the list expands. Titles include Suikoden Tactics and Suikoden Tierkreis, along with other side and portable releases. Their placement depends on whether you want original release order, in-world chronology, or simply the main numbered story; a complete authoritative date-by-date order for every spin-off and regional edition is not established by the sources here.
Konami’s franchise portal announced a global release confirmation for Suikoden STAR LEAP in December 2025. That announcement does not establish a release date or confirm that the game is available, so it should not be inserted into a released-games order on that basis alone.
