Then verify it fits your target platform, understand the full recurring cost, and read the terms for generated assets, data use, and player safety. “AI game generator” describes very different workflows, so judge the specific product with a real project—not a promise that one prompt will make a finished game.
Start by checking what the tool produces
Ask for a real example built with the product and inspect the result. Is it a playable prototype, an editable project with scripts and assets, a hosted experience confined to the provider’s platform, or a tool that assists you in an editor? Find out whether you can revise individual parts, export or preserve your work, and keep developing if you stop paying. A generated result may need substantial iteration, editing, and playtesting.

Roblox’s July 16, 2026 announcement describes its Build mobile workflow as producing a basic starting point that creators can iterate on, playtest, share, or publish. Roblox Studio’s broader AI workflow includes tools for scripting, generating meshes, materials, and models, and playtesting. Unity describes its in-editor assistant as project-aware: it can work with a project scene, drive Editor actions, and verify changes. These are distinct kinds of products, not interchangeable promises of a finished game.

Roblox engineering SVP Nick Tornow wrote on April 15, 2026, that “AI tools that intake a prompt and output a solution in one step can feel like shooting in the dark and often fail to truly capture a creator’s original intent.” That is his characterization of one-step generation, not a guarantee about every product. Use a representative example to judge how well a particular tool handles revisions and your intended workflow.

Confirm it fits your engine and publishing route
Name your destination before comparing tools: Roblox, Unity, another engine, or a standalone web or mobile game. Confirm supported export formats, engine versions, operating systems, target devices, and publishing route. Check whether the output can be modified in the destination engine and whether the tool supports collaboration or version control in the way your project needs.
Roblox documents workflows that connect MCP-capable clients to an open Roblox Studio session, as well as filesystem-based development with Rojo and Git. Unity’s documented AI workflow requires Unity 6.0 or later. Unity also lists CLI, MCP server, and official plugin routes for connecting third-party agents. Verify that the documented workflow matches your installed version and your team’s setup.

Compare the whole cost, including usage limits
Look beyond the advertised monthly price. Check the post-trial charge, included credits, credit cost per generation, extra-credit pricing, rate or concurrency limits, seat limits, and whether exports or generated assets require a higher tier. Also check renewal and cancellation terms, and whether you need a separate subscription to the underlying model or agent.

Unity’s official pages currently describe Personal as free, advertise a 14-day AI-tools trial on the pricing page, and list monthly AI-credit allowances by plan tier. Unity’s AI tools FAQ says a Personal Edition assistant trial converts to a $10-per-month subscription. The same FAQ says its CLI, MCP server, and official plugin are free routes. These terms can change; confirm the current offer, billing frequency, and conversion terms on Unity’s pricing page and AI tools page before subscribing.

Compare products on the same criteria

Read the terms for assets and commercial use
Check the specific service’s contract for commercial use, ownership, attribution, restrictions on outputs, training-data use, and what happens to your project after cancellation. Do not assume that being able to generate an asset means you have the rights needed to publish or sell it.
Unity says generated assets include metadata identifying them as AI-generated. It places responsibility on developers to verify usage rights and handle applicable app-store declarations. For Roblox projects involving licensed intellectual property, review the platform’s rights-holder requirements and creator licensing guidance as well as the AI service’s terms.

Check data practices and platform safety rules
Data controls and obligations vary by service and platform. Roblox says creator data sharing can be controlled. For games, avatar items, and paid assets published on or after July 10, 2024, sharing is on by default; creators can change the default and override it during publishing. Roblox says shared data is used for AI enhancement. Review the current Roblox AI data-sharing documentation and the service’s own policy to determine what happens to your prompts and project files.

If your game will run on Roblox, creators remain responsible for third-party AI output delivered to players and must not bypass required safety measures. Roblox says that if players can interact with a model in a way that triggers a response, those interactions must be disclosed in the Content Maturity questionnaire. Roblox-served AI APIs have moderation flows; that does not make a separate third-party generator automatically compliant. Check the platform’s generative AI rules before shipping.

Test the workflow before committing
- Choose a small, representative game task. Use the engine, assets, and type of revision you expect in your real project.
- Follow the full workflow. Generate, inspect, edit, playtest, and export or publish if the product claims to support those steps.
- Record the actual cost and friction. Note credits used, waiting or concurrency limits, required subscriptions, and any manual work needed to make the result usable.
- Check what you can keep. Confirm that you can access and continue developing the project or assets under the service’s terms if you cancel.
This small test can expose a mismatch between a polished demo and the product’s practical output. Do not treat vendor examples as proof that results are typical or independently benchmarked.
What the available Roblox figures do—and do not—show
Roblox reported in 2026 that 44% of its top 1,000 creators use Roblox Assistant or third-party AI tools via MCP to plan, build, and test games. This is a company-reported figure for a defined Roblox creator group, not an independent survey or a measure of all game developers. Roblox Creator Hub also says public generative-AI training datasets can vary by system and version, with training ranging up to over 3 million distinct assets. That is not one current dataset size applicable to every model.
