To play with friends in Battlefield 6, add them through EA Connect, wait for them to accept your friend request, then invite them from the Party tab. Cross-play is on by default across PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so friends on those platforms can play together.
How to add a friend in Battlefield 6

Open EA Connect in Battlefield 6 by pressing R2 on PlayStation, RT on Xbox, or TAB on PC.

Choose account search and enter your friend’s EA ID or platform ID. Check the matching account and send a friend request.

Have your friend accept the request. They need to appear in your EA Connect Friends list before you can invite them.

How to invite a friend to your party

Open EA Connect and go to Friends.

Open the Party tab, select your friend, and send the party invitation. Your friend must accept it to join.

Can you play Battlefield 6 with friends on another platform?
Yes. EA lists PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as supported platforms for cross-play, which is enabled by default. You can leave it on to play with friends across those platforms.
How to turn cross-play off on console

Leave any party or server and make sure matchmaking has not started.

Open the gear/settings menu, then go to System > Setup.

Turn off Cross-play.
EA says this setting can be changed only on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. With cross-play off, you can play only with people on your own platform. It cannot be changed while you are in a party, on a server, or after matchmaking has begun. See EA’s cross-play guide for the documented setting path.

What to expect from console matchmaking
EA says console matchmaking prioritizes players using the same console type and pairs console players with PC players only if there are not enough console players. Its Battlefield 6 FAQ says players can toggle off PC cross-play to play with console players only, but extended wait times may override that preference. That means switching cross-play off is not a guarantee that every match will exclude PC players in all circumstances.
