On Android, Google Play calls it pre-registration; on iPhone and iPad, Apple calls it a pre-order. Use the game’s store listing to sign up, then use the store’s account controls to review or cancel where that option is available. Both stores describe a release notification, but their download and cancellation rules differ—and neither source set documents a reliable per-game switch for silencing only that launch alert.

How to pre-register on Google Play
- Open the Google Play Store and search for the unreleased game, or open its Play Store listing.
- If the listing has a Pre-register button, tap it. Google says you are not charged for registering.
- Google says it will notify you when the game becomes available. Some eligible devices may have it auto-installed, but that is not guaranteed for every device or launch.
Google Play Console describes the launch behavior this way: “Users who pre-register for your game will receive a notification at launch, and eligible devices will be able to have the game auto-installed.” See Google’s pre-registration guidance.
Can you cancel a Google Play pre-registration?
Google’s current general Play Help page says pre-registration cannot be canceled. An older localized version of Google’s guidance describes tapping Pre-registered and then Cancel on Android, or choosing Unregister on the web. Because the guidance conflicts, do not assume either control will be present: inspect the live game listing and your current Play account interface. If no cancellation control appears, the official general guidance does not offer another dependable withdrawal route.

How to pre-order a game on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store and tap your account photo or initials.
- Tap your Apple Account name, then tap Pre-Orders. For an Apple Arcade game, open Arcade Pre-Orders instead.
- Select the game and follow the on-screen cancellation prompts if you want to withdraw the pre-order.
Apple says pre-order customers receive a notification when the app is released. The app automatically downloads to the device used to place the pre-order; other eligible devices can download it when automatic downloads are enabled. A paid app pre-order is charged at release, not when you place the pre-order. Availability and release timing can vary by territory. Details are in Apple’s pre-order support article.
Manage Apple pre-orders on Mac or Windows
- Mac: Open the App Store, select your account name, then choose Pre-Orders.
- Windows: Apple’s support instructions use Apple Music or Apple TV: open account details and choose Manage Pre-Orders.
How to stop a launch notification
A release alert is not the same thing as canceling a pre-registration or pre-order, and changing a notification permission should not be assumed to withdraw it. The official store guidance cited above explains sign-up, release notices, downloads, and some cancellation controls; it does not establish a current setting that disables the alert for just one game while keeping other store notifications on.

If your goal is to withdraw rather than merely silence the alert, use Apple’s documented pre-order cancellation steps or inspect the current Google Play listing and account UI, where cancellation availability is unclear. If your goal is only to silence a notification, your phone or store may offer broader notification permissions, but the sources here do not establish the exact controls for each operating-system version or whether changing them will suppress a scheduled launch alert. Do not treat a broad notification toggle as a per-game preference.
