How do you level up character proficiency?
- Select the character you want to develop.
- Use that character in battles. Community reports associate playing battles as a character with proficiency progress. Treat this as practical, provisional guidance rather than a published progression formula.
- Check the character or encyclopedia proficiency display afterward. This is a practical way to see whether progress registered; the precise menu path is not established in the sources available.
You can play online or offline if the mode lets you choose and consistently use the intended character. Bandai Namco’s guide index lists online and offline options, including ranked and player matches and tournaments, but no source establishes that one mode grants proficiency faster.

What does character proficiency do?
Proficiency is character-specific progression. Do not confuse it with Player Level, character unlocks, or customization. Bandai Namco’s beginner guide covers character stats, outfits, accessories, and ability-item customization, but does not say that proficiency raises combat stats or unlocks stronger attacks. A Game8 search snippet associates reaching proficiency level 1 with an icon-title unlock, but that is limited, low-confidence evidence—not a basis for promising a particular reward.
What is not confirmed?
- Matches needed: No verified threshold table establishes how many battles it takes to gain a level or star.
- Fastest mode: No evidence reviewed proves that online, offline, or a particular battle type gives more proficiency per minute.
- Bench progress: The reports link progress to playing as a character; they do not establish that a character gains proficiency while benched.
- Combat benefits: The available official guide does not establish that proficiency improves battle performance.
How proficiency differs from Player Level
Player Level and character proficiency are separate concepts. PowerPyx’s October 7, 2024 guide discusses Player Level progression and shop unlocks, not proficiency thresholds. Its details should not be used to infer how quickly an individual character’s proficiency rises.
